Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State defense held Mount Saint Mary to only 33-percent shooting, including 26-percent from behind the arc in Tuesday night's 85-67 road victory. The FSC men's basketball team (10-5, 6-0) recorded their sixth straight win and opened up a 1.5 game lead over Yeshiva (4-1) in the Skyline South Division.

Trailing 15-13 midway through the first half, the Rams used an 8-0 run which saw 3's from both Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Chaz Platt (Jamaica, N.Y.) to go ahead by six, 21-15.

After an Owen Heath (Jamestown, R.I.) 3-pointer with 4:59 remaining in the first half cut the MSMC (9-5, 4-2) deficit to 28-24, FSC responded with jumpers from Kinard and Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) to open up an eight-point advantage. The Rams took a 40-31 lead into the break as Kinard (4-of-7) and Mableton (5-of-7) led the way with 10 points apiece.

The Knights opened the second half with five straight points before a 15-2 Farmingdale State run gave the Rams a 17-point lead, 55-38. After a Gerard Nocera (Holmdel, N.J.) jump shot on MSMC's next possession, FSC responded with a Kyle Beeson (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) layup and 3-pointer from Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) to extend the advantage to 60-40 with 12:35 left to play.

With 7:47 remaining and the Rams on top 68-50, Mableton tallied back-to-back layups and George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) followed with a pair of free-throws to extend the lead to 74-50. FSC led by at least 17 points the remainder of the game as they earned the 85-67 road victory.

Riefenstahl recorded his fifth double-double of the season with a game-high 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting and 10 rebounds, while Mableton scored 16 points (8-for-10), had nine boards and four assists. Kinard finished with 13 points, four rebounds and a team-leading five assists.

The Knights were led by Nocera's team-high 12 points.

FSC next will travel to Sarah Lawrence for a conference game on Saturday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m.
