Rams Fall to Bates in NYU Classic

Manhattan, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team fell to Bates College on Thursday night in the 11th Annual NYU Classic played at the Hunter College Sportsplex. The Rams now hold an overall record of 4-5, while the Bobcats improved to 7-3 on the year.

Farmingdale State fell behind in the first half, 60-38, as Bates sank 9-of-13 shots from long range and finished with a 67-percent field goal percentage.

In the second half, the Bobcats added five more three's and would roll to the 111-88 victory, breaking the previous NYU Classic record of points in a game (99). Bates was led by a double-double from senior forward Marcus Delpeche (Wilmington, Del.) with game-highs of 27 points and 17 rebounds.

The Rams finished with four players in double figures, led by sophomore forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) with 18 points and six rebounds. Junior guard Liam Monaghan (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) scored 16, while sophomore guard Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) totaled 14 points and sophomore guard Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) posted 10 points.
