Rams Drop Non-Conference Game at Lehman

Lehman - 76, Farmingdale State - 70


Bronx, N.Y. - In a non-conference men's basketball game on Tuesday evening, Farmingdale State traveled to Lehman College and fell, 76-70. The Rams dropped to 1-2 on the year, while the Lightning improved to 2-2.

Lehman took a 36-35 lead into the break and opened the second half on a 7-0 run which saw five points from junior guard Andrew Utate (Washington Heights, N.Y.) to go ahead, 43-35.

Trailing 62-51 with 9:17 remaining, FSC used a Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) 3-pointer and back-to-back layups from George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to 62-58.

With 5:11 left to play and the Rams down six, a 3-pointer by Kinard cut the Lehman lead in half, 66-63. The Rams were held scoreless over the next 4:31 as the Lightning increased their advantage to 70-63. Lehman led by as many as eight points over the final 40 seconds en route to the 76-70 non-conference victory.

Riefenstahl, who was 7-of-8 from the floor, tallied a team-high 19 points and secured 11 rebounds for his third consecutive double-double to start the season. Kinard finished with 14 points after connecting on four 3's in the loss for FSC.

The Lightning were led by senior guard Damian Bellamy (Andrews, S.C.) who scored a game-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while senior guard Edwin Pascual (Bronx, N.Y.) pitched in with 20 points.

The Rams next will open conference play with a road game at Yeshiva on Tuesday, November 29th at 8:00 p.m.
