Nine First Half Three's Lead Rams to Fourth Straight Win

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team hit nine three-pointers in the first half, en route to their fourth straight victory and a 100-80 conference win over St. Joe's-Brooklyn (12-12, 9-10) on Saturday night. The Rams now hold a 12-11 record, including 12-6 in Skyline play.

Farmingdale State took an 8-7 lead on a sophomore Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) free throw at the 17:43 mark and would never trail the rest of the way. With 4:17 remaining in the first, the Rams used a 14-5 run to closeout the half holding a 58-39 advantage. Farmingdale State was 9-for-14 from long range in the first and shot 57-percent from the field. Kinard scored 19 first half points, while freshman guard Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) posted 12 in the half.

In the second, the Rams held St. Joe's to just 28-percent shooting. Freshman forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) posted 17 points in the second, finishing the game with his third double-double of the season (a career-high 25 points and a team-high 14 rebounds).

Farmingdale State had four other players in double figures, including Kinard with 24 points, Graham with 15 points, sophomore guard Jarred Marrow (Amityville, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Liam Monaghan (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) with 10 points each.

For St. Joe's-Brooklyn, senior guard Matt O'Neill (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted a team-high 24 points, while senior forward Michael Megafu (Jamaica, N.Y.) had 19 points and nine rebounds.

The Rams are now in third place in the conference, with two games remaining to play, and will next travel to face first place Old Westbury on Thursday night, February 18th, at 6:00 p.m.
