Rams Pull Away Late in Victory Against Mount Saint Mary

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team earned a 71-54 Skyline Conference victory over Mount Saint Mary this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams led 30-28 at the break and outscored the Knights 41-26 in the second half to record their 10th conference win of the season.

Mount Saint Mary (7-14, 5-11) held an early 14-8 lead with 12:22 left in the first half, before the Rams (10-11, 10-6) used a Brandon Herriot (Hollis, N.Y.) 3-pointer and layup to cut the deficit to 14-13.

Trailing 23-19 with 4:41 remaining in the half, two Liam Monaghan (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) free-throws and a 3 from sophomore guard Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) gave the Rams a one-point edge at 24-23. Farmingdale State took a 30-28 advantage into the break as Herriot scored a team-high seven first half points.

With 11:03 left on the clock and the Rams down 42-41, freshman forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) scored on FSC's next two possessions to open up a three-point lead at 45-42. After converting 1-of-2 at the line on MSMC's next possession, Farmingdale State followed with a 12-2 run to extend the advantage to 57-45 with 6:12 remaining.

A Daniel Wolff (Holtsville, N.Y.) layup with 4:15 on the clock cut the Mount Saint Mary deficit to 61-52 but the Rams answered with six straight points capped off by a Riefenstahl dunk to take a 67-52 lead. The Rams went on to earn the 71-54 victory.

Riefenstahl scored a team-high 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and added nine rebounds, while freshman guard Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) tallied 11 points, eight boards and five assists. Monaghan had a game-high eight assists to go along with eight points and Herriot scored 13 points while going 3-for-4 from behind the arc. Sophomore guard Jarred Marrow (Amityville, N.Y.) shot 4-for-6 from the field and finished with 10 points in the win.

The Knights were led by Wolff's 16 points and eight rebounds.

The Rams next will play host to St. Joseph's-LI in a conference game on Thursday, February 11th at 8:00 p.m.
