Rams Defeat Purchase; Earn First Conference Win

Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team earned their first Skyline Conference win of the season after defeating Purchase, 72-59, on Tuesday evening. The Rams are now 1-2 in the conference and 1-6 overall, while the Panthers dropped to 3-6, 1-3.

Tied 17-17 with 4:54 remaining in the first, the Rams closed the half on a 14-2 run highlighted by a pair of Brandon Herriot (Hollis, N.Y.) 3's and took a 31-19 advantage into the break.

After Purchase scored the opening basket of the second half, Farmingdale State answered with a Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) 3-pointer and a layup from Weldon Irvine (Queens, N.Y.) to take a 15-point lead at 36-21.

Leading 37-29 with 15:22 left on the clock, a 7-0 run by the Rams brought the advantage back to 14, 46-32.

After Creig Graves (Harlem, N.Y.) hit a 3-pointer to cut the Purchase deficit to 51-42 with 9:05 remaining, the Rams used an 11-0 run over the next 3:35 to open up a 62-42 lead and put the game out of reach. FSC led by double-digit's the remainder of the game as they earned the 72-59 road victory.

Herriot was 4-for-6 from behind the arc for 12 points, while Kinard also finished the game with 12 points. Sophomore guard Liam Monaghan (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) pitched in with 11 points and four assists and senior guard Eddie Kinloch (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 10 points, five boards and four assists.

The Panthers were led by Graves who recorded a game-high 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 4-for-8 from 3-point range.

Farmingdale State next will travel to St. Joseph's-Brooklyn for a conference game on Thursday, December 10th at 5:30 p.m.
