Rams Drop Skyline Game at Sage

Sage - 88, Farmingdale State - 69


Albany, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team traveled to Sage on Saturday for a Skyline Conference game and fell, 88-69.

The Rams (0-6, 0-2) held an 8-7 lead in the opening minutes before the Gators (5-2, 3-0) went on a 9-0 run to go ahead 16-8.

Trailing 35-20 with 2:47 left in the first half, Farmingdale State sophomore guard Liam Monaghan (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) hit a pair of free-throws on back-to-back Rams possessions to cut the deficit to 35-24. Sage closed the first half on a 10-2 run and took a 45-26 advantage into the break.

With 18:33 remaining, Sage used seven straight points from senior guard Jorrdan McCray (Orlando, Fla.) to take their largest lead of the game at 54-28. FSC responded with an Eddie Kinloch (Brooklyn, N.Y.) layup and a jumper and 3-pointer by Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) to close within 19, 54-35.

Sage would lead by as many as 28 midway though the second half as they earned the 88-69 victory.

Freshman forward George Riefenstahl (Bayport, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for the Rams. Monaghan poured in a game-high 21 points, had five steals and five boards, while Kinard finished with 13 points.

The Gators had six players score in double figures led by junior guard Rob Mills' (Newburgh, N.Y.) 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

The Rams next will head to Purchase for a Skyline Conference game on Tuesday, December 8th at 6:00 p.m.
