Ramapo Edges Rams in Final Seconds

Mahwah, N.J. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team fell 83-81 in a close game with Ramapo College on Thursday night. The Rams dropped to 0-2 overall in the loss, while the Roadrunners improved to 2-0.

Ramapo opened the scoring with two free throws and held the lead throughout the first. With 1:23 remaining and down by six, Farmingdale State finished on a 5-0 run and trailed 42-41 at the halftime break.

Senior guard Eddie Kinloch's (Brooklyn, N.Y.) jumper to open the second half put the Rams on top, 43-42, with 18:42 remaining and the lead would change seven times the rest of the way. Farmingdale State held an 80-78 lead with 1:07 on the clock, before two free throws by Ramapo's sophomore forward Christopher Moseley (Fair Lawn, N.J.) evened the score at 80-80.

Sophomore guard Jarred Marrow (Amityville, N.Y.) gave the Rams a one-point lead at the 32 second mark, 81-80, but on the next possession junior forward Jermaine Peart (Paterson, N.J.) hit a jumper and was fouled, giving the Roadrunners the 83-81 lead with 16 seconds remaining.

A jumper by Farmingdale State in the final seconds went in-and-out before an offensive rebound gave the Rams another chance. Ramapo blocked the final shot to secure the 83-81 non-conference victory.

Kinloch finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists. Sophomore guard Liam Monaghan (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) totaled 13 points and four assists, while sophomore guards Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Leland Williams (Amityville, N.Y.) chipped in with 11 points each. Marrow rounded out the five Rams in double figures with 10 pionts.

The Roadrunners were led by Peart and senior forward Frank Nock (Bridgeton, N.J.) with 20 points apiece, while Moseley posted a double-double of 16 points, 10 boards and seven assists.

Farmingdale State will now host Brockport State on Tuesday, November 24th in the FSC home opener at 5:00 p.m.
