Rams Drop Season Opener at CCNY

New York, N.Y. - In the Farmingdale State men's basketball season opener last night, the Rams fell, 68-57, at CCNY in a non-conference game.

Leading 13-10 with 10:15 remaining, the Beavers (1-0) used back-to-back 3's from sophomore guard David Solano (Westchester, N.Y.) and a layup by senior center Blake Borysewicz (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to extend their advantage to 21-10.

CCNY held a 27-11 lead with less than seven minutes remaining in the first, before Farmingdale State (0-1) closed the half on a 9-3 run and went into the break down by 10, 30-20.

Trailing 48-38 with 7:57 left to play, Farmingdale State sophomore guard Leland Williams (Amityville, N.Y.) hit a layup and sophomore guard Jarred Marrow (Amityville, N.Y.) followed with a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to five, 48-43. CCNY answered with five straight points to quickly bring the lead back to 10 with 5:07 remaining.

The Rams closed within seven points late in the game but fell, 68-57.

Junior guard Brandon Harriot (Queens Village, N.Y.) led FSC with a team-high 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting, while Williams had 11 points and eight boards.

CCNY's Khalil Hamer (New York, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while also adding eight assists.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Ramapo for a non-conference game on Thursday, November 19th at 7:30 p.m.
