Rams Fall in Conference Match-up at Purchase

Purchase College - 83, Farmingdale State - 73


Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team fell at Purchase College on Saturday afternoon, 83-73, in a Skyline Conference game. The Rams drop to 6-14, 4-9 in the conference, while the Panthers improved to 7-13, 7-6.

Leading throughout the first half, a Ruben Terrero (Brentwood, N.Y.) jumper with 8:02 remaining gave the Rams a 24-16 edge. A 10-3 run by Purchase over the next three minutes cut the deficit to 27-26. Two free throws by Taylor Foster put the Panthers ahead 28-27 and another run would give Purchase the 36-31 lead at the halftime break.

In the second, Purchase pushed the lead to 13 over the first ten minutes of play, 60-47. Farmingdale State used a 10-2 run to cut the Panthers lead to five points, 62-57. The Panthers went up by 11, 70-59, before a final Rams run cut the score to 70-66 with 3:12 remaining. But Purchase held the Rams to just seven points the rest of the way as they secured the conference win, 83-73.

Farmingdale State had five players in double figures. Terrero finished with 11 points and four assists, while junior forward Anthony Lanieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) led the Rams with 17 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore forward Weldon Irvine (Queens, N.Y.) and junior forward Marques Underwood (Bronx, N.Y.) both finished with 13 points. Junior guard Eddie Kinloch (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 11 points.

For Purchase, Taylor Foster totaled 18 points, while Troy Singleton scored 13 points. Kendall Felix and Jose Reyes tallied 12 points, Creig Graves was the fifth player in double digits with 11 points.

The Rams have five regular-season games remaining, next hosting Old Westbury on Wednesday night, February 11th at 7:00 p.m.
