Maritime Holds Off Rams in Skyline Matchup

Maritime - 66, Farmingdale State - 58


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball hosted Maritime in a Skyline Conference game this evening and fell, 66-58. The Rams trailed by as many as 18 points midway through the second half before cutting the deficit to one with less than a minute to play.

The Privateers (3-6, 1-2) led 33-27 at the break and opened the second half on a 14-2 run to take their largest lead of the game at 47-29.

Trailing 49-33, Farmingdale State (2-9, 0-4) junior guard Eddie Kinloch (Brooklyn, N.Y.) hit a 3-pointer and then converted a layup to cut the Rams deficit to 49-38 with 9:51 remaining.

Farmingdale State trailed 57-50 with 3:53 left on the clock, before a pair of Anthony Lanieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) free-throws and a Justin Bailey (Jamaica, N.Y.) layup pulled the Rams within three, 57-54. After two free-throws by Maritime sophomore forward Isaiah Hayes (Jamaica, N.Y.), Farmingdale State answered with a Ruben Terrero (Brentwood, N.Y.) layup and two at the line to close within one, 59-58, with 47 seconds remaining.

The Privateers outscored the Rams 7-0 over the final 47 seconds en route to the 66-58 conference victory.

Lanieri scored a team-high 14 points and added five rebounds, while Kinloch had 12 points, five boards and three steals for the Rams.

Maritime was led by senior guard T'Vaughn Gibson (Freeport, Bahamas) who tallied a game-high 17 points, while freshman forward Patrick MacDonald (Buffalo, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Mount Saint Mary for a conference game on Saturday, January 10th at 1:00 p.m.
