Cane Leads the Ospreys past Farmingdale State

Galloway, N.J. - Stockton College (3-0) used a 47-point first half, which included six three-pointers, to defeat Farmingdale State 76-47 tonight in non-conference men's basketball action at the Richard Stockton Sports Center. The Rams dropped to 2-1 overall on the season with the loss.

Stockton opened the game with a layup from junior guard Armin Cane (Pleasantville, N.J.) before Farmingdale's freshman guard Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) responded with a three-pointer for a 3-2 Rams lead. The Ospreys used a 14-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 16-3 advantage and never looked back. Stockton shot 54-percent from the floor and 50-percent from long range (6-for-12) as they ran into the halftime break leading by 23.

Farmingdale State held the Ospreys to just 29 points in the second half, but could not recover from the double-digit deficit. Kinard finished the night with eight points, while freshman guard Leland Williams (Amityville, N.Y.) led the team with 12 points and three steals. Junior forward Marques Underwood (Bronx, N.Y.) pulled down a game-high seven rebounds on the night for the Rams.

For Stockton, Cane scored 20 of his game-high 29 points in the first half. Freshman forward Darius Jerkins (Somers Point, N.J.) totaled a game-high seven rebounds, while senior forward Josh Blamon (Cinnimanson, N.J.) tallied seven points and a game-high five assists.

Farmingdale State will now travel upstate to play in the Cortaca Classic this weekend. They will face Cortland State (at Ithaca College) on Friday, November 21st at 6:00 p.m., followed by a game against Ithaca College (at Cortland) on Saturday, November 22nd at 2:00 p.m.
