Farmingdale, N.Y. - In Head Coach Brendan Twomey's first year at Farmingdale State, the men's basketball team finished the 2013-14 season with an 18-9 overall record, including 13-4 in the Skyline Conference. The Rams earned the #3 seed for the playoffs and fell, 95-75, in the semifinals at second-seeded Mount Saint Mary College.
Senior center Donald Lawes (Queens, N.Y.) was named First Team All-Conference and the Skyline Defensive Player of the Year. Lawes finished the season as the Nation's leader in blocked shots and blocked shots per game. He averaged 12.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and blocked a school-record 119 shots.
Senior guard Jonathan Annan (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the team in assists (117) and steals (42) and was second on the Rams after averaging 12.5 points per game. Senior guard Timothy Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) shot a team-leading 35% from 3-point range and scored 10.5 ppg, while senior guard Curtis Williams (Stony Brook, N.Y.) pitched in with 6.4 points and 4.9 rebounds a contest.
Farmingdale State led all of Division III in field-goal percentage defense and defensive rebounds per game, ranked 2nd in blocked shots and 3rd in blocked shots per game.
The Rams graduated five players from the 2013-14 roster.
