Rams Fall to Knights in Skyline Semi's

#2 Mount Saint Mary - 95, #3 Farmingdale State - 75


Newburgh, N.Y. - The third-seeded Farmingdale State men's basketball team fell 95-75 to the second-seeded Mount Saint Mary tonight in the Skyline Conference semifinals held at the Kaplan Center in Newburgh, N.Y. The Rams end the season with an 18-9 record overall, while the Knights (21-5) will meet top-seed Purchase on Saturday night for the Skyline Championship.

Mount Saint Mary opened the game on a 20-2 run over the first six minutes and led 30-9 midway through the half. The Knights were hot in the first with a 50-percent field goal percentage, including five three's. Farmingdale State struggled to get going, shooting 32-percent from the field, and would trail 44-25 at the break.

To open the second, senior center Donald Lawes (Queens, N.Y.) threw down a dunk to make it 44-27 as the Rams cut the deficit to 10, 48-38, with an 11-4 run over the first four minutes.

Farmingdale State got as close as nine, 59-50, with a Wilson Molina (Queens, N.Y.) layup at 12:53, but they could not get any closer as the Knights shot 66-percent in the second half and made 13-of-17 free throws over the final five minutes.

For the Rams, senior guard Jonathan Annan (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished with 21 points, while Lawes posted 14 points and three blocks. Bailey totaled 12 points.

Mount Saint Mary had five players in double figures, led by Joe Henain with 26 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Donte Howell posted 18 points, Anthony Cipriano had 14 points and both Alex Smith and Chris Pisciotta chipped in 10 points each.
