Molina's Game-Winner Leads Rams Past Yeshiva

New York, N.Y. - Farmingdale State sophomore guard Wilson Molina (Queens, N.Y.) broke a 59-59 tie as he scored the game-winning layup with 14 seconds remaining leading the Rams to a two-point victory at Yeshiva on Tuesday night. The Rams improved to 15-6 overall and 11-3 in the Skyline Conference with the victory.

Trailing 43-42 with 12:23 remaining, Molina connected on a 3-pointer to put Farmingdale State ahead by two, before the Maccabees (6-15, 4-10) responded with a 6-0 run to take a 49-45 lead with under 10 minutes to play.

After a Yosef Rosenthal (West Hempstead, N.Y.) 3-pointer gave Yeshiva a 59-54 edge, senior guard Jonathan Annan (Staten Island, N.Y.) hit a 3 and senior guard Timothy Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) made a layup to tie the game at 59-59 with 2:22 remaining.

Molina broke the 59-59 tie by hitting a layup with 14 seconds remaining and Yeshiva was unable to convert an uncontested layup at time expired to force overtime.

Johnson finished with a game-high 17 points a had six rebounds, while senior center Donald Lawes (Queens, N.Y.) scored 11 points, had seven boards and four blocks. Molina tallied 10 points and senior forward Curtis Williams (Stony Brook, N.Y.) pitched in with nine points and a team-leading eight rebounds.

The Maccabees were led by senior forward Shlomo Weissberg (Skokie, Ill.) who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Mount Saint Vincent on Thursday, February 13th at 7:00 p.m.
