Skyline Releases Winter Weekly Report #11

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Winter weekly report #11 on Monday, February 3rd, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's basketball.

Women's Basketball Update (11-7, 8-1 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State pushed their streak to six straight wins with conference victories over NYU-Poly (61-41), Old Westbury (87-73) and Mount Saint Mary (78-59). They are now in sole possession of first place in the conference with an 8-1 record and five Skyline games remaining.

Junior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Romero averaged a team-high 20 points per game, shooting 44-percent from the field. She scored 18 points, had four assists and three steals vs. NYU-Poly; then added 26 points, three assists and two steals vs. Old Westbury. To finish out the week, she posted 16 points, three assists and three steals at Mount Saint Mary. She helped the Rams win their 6th straight and remain in 1st place in the Skyline. Camille is currently ranked 32nd in the nation for scoring with 19.6 ppg.

This week the women's basketball team will host John Jay on Wednesday, February 5th at 5:00 p.m. for a non-conference game.

Men's Basketball Update (12-6, 8-3 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's basketball team went 1-1 on the week with a 66-51 victory over Maritime and a 55-46 loss against #13 Purchase. The Rams are ranked #2 in the nation for field goal percentage defense (36.5).

Senior center Donald Lawes (Queens, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after posting a double-double against Maritime (19 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks) and added eight points, eight rebounds and five blocks in the loss against Purchase. Donny still leads the nation for blocks (91) and blocks per game (5.06). He is only nine blocks away from breaking the school record of 99 blocks in a season, set by AJ Matthews during the 2011-12 season.

The Rams next will travel to face Old Westbury on Tuesday, February 4th at 7:00 p.m. and NYU-Poly on Saturday, February 8th at 1:00 p.m.
