Purchase Remains Perfect in Skyline After Late Comeback

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Purchase College closed the game on an 18-3 run over the final 8:11 to earn a 55-46 victory over Farmingdale State this afternoon. The 13th-ranked Panthers improved to 16-1 overall and 10-0 in the Skyline Conference, while Farmingdale State now stands at 12-6, 8-3.

Leading 12-10 with 12:21 remaining in the first half, the Rams used a 9-0 run to increase their advantage to 11. Farmingdale State led 27-15, before seven straight Purchase points cut the deficit to 27-22 with 4:09 left in the half. After a Wilson Molina (Queens, N.Y.) 3-pointer, the Panthers hit two free-throw's, before Farmingdale State scored the final five points of the half and took a 35-24 advantage into the break.

The Rams increased the lead to 13 early in the second half, but a 11-2 Purchase run capped off by a David Haughton (Greenburgh, N.Y.) dunk pulled them within four, 41-37. The Panthers held Farmingdale State to only five points the final 9:12 to earn a 55-46 win and remain unbeaten in the Skyline Conference.

Senior guard Jonathan Annan (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored eight points and senior forward Donald Lawes (Queens, N.Y.) had eight points, eight rebounds and five blocks for the Rams.

Purchase was led by junior center Joel Neri (Port Chester, N.Y.) who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards, while blocking a game-high six shots.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Old Westbury for a conference game on Tuesday, February 4th at 7:00 p.m.
