Farmingdale State - 72, Mount Saint Mary - 66


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team picked up a Skyline victory tonight with a 72-66 win over Mount Saint Mary College (7-6, 4-3). The Rams were led by Assistant Coach, Detective Jim Bebry, who took over the head coaching duties tonight for Erik Smiles, who welcomed his first child this afternoon.

Farmingdale's junior guard Curtis Williams opened the game with a three-pointer and the Rams (9-4, 5-1 Skyline) led throughout the first half. Mount Saint Mary cut the lead to four with 2:11 left in the half, before an 8-2 Farmingdale State run, capped off by a Ryan Davis (Queens, N.Y.) three at the buzzer, gave the Rams a 42-32 advantage at the break. Davis led all scorers in the half with 17 points, including five three's.

Trailing 62-49 with 7:05 remaining in the second,an MSMC 10-0 run cut the Knights deficit to 62-59 with 2:56 left on the clock. After a Davis layup, junior guard Donte Howell (Baldwin, N.Y.) converted a layup and free throw to pull Mount Saint Mary within two, 64-62. The Rams scored the next four points to increase their lead to six and held on for the win.

Davis finished with a team-high 19 points and six assists, while Williams added nine points and a game-high eight boards. Senior guard Christian Nunez (White Plains, N.Y.) tallied 11 points and five rebounds for the Rams.

The Knights were led by Howell with a game-leading 22 points, including 12-of-15 from the free throw line. Junior forward Joe Henain (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) recorded 12 points and eight rebounds.

Farmingdale State next will travel to St. Joseph's for a Skyline game on Wednesday, January 16th at 7:15 p.m.
