Skyline Releases Winter Weekly Report #6

- Young named Player of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Winter weekly report #6 on Monday, December 31, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's basketball.

Men's Basketball Update (6-4, 2-1) - Full Report

After a three week break, the Rams traveled to York College for the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Farmingdale State fell 71-48 to Gettysburg in the opening game and rebounded with a 70-61 victory over York in the consolation game.

Senior forward AJ Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Matthews averaged 22 points and nine rebounds in the two games.

Men's basketball resumes Skyline play as they host Sage on Wednesday, January 9 at 8:00 p.m.

Women's Basketball Update (4-4, 2-0) - Full Report

Farmingdale State split a pair of games at the Juniata College Holiday Tournament this week. The Rams fell to King's (PA) 79-54 and defeated John Jay 58-56 in the consolation game.

Junior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Young was named to the all-tournament team at the Juniata Tournament as she averaged 22.5 points and 9.5 rebounds. Young scored 24 points against King’s and poured in 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the win over John Jay. She added four assists in the two games. Young has been named the Skyline Player of the Week twice this season.

Farmingdale State next will host Amherst in a non-conference game on Tuesday, January 8 at 6:00 p.m. and Sage on Wednesday, January 9 at 6:00 p.m.
