- Matthews named Player of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Winter weekly report #4 on Monday, December 10, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's basketball.

Men's Basketball Update (5-3, 2-1) - Full Report

Farmingdale State picked up a 78-57 win over Purchase in their lone Skyline game this week. At the 21st Annual Doc Greene Tournament, the Rams defeated Valley Forge Christian 73-57 and fell to host school Juniata in the championship game.

Senior forward AJ Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Matthews averaged 21.3 points, 18.0 rebounds and 2.6 blocks over three contests to earn his third Player of the Week citation of the season. He scored 21 points and grabbed 21 rebounds against Purchase and poured in 29 points, had 25 boards and six blocks in the win over Valley Forge Christian. Matthews was named to the all-tournament team at the Doc Greene Tournament.

After a three week break, the Rams will play Gettysburg on Friday, December 28th at 8:00p.m. in the York (PA) Tournament.

Women's Basketball Update (3-3, 2-0) - Full Report

The Rams defeated Purchase 76-38 in their only game this week.

Junior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll after scoring 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting.

Farmingdale State will take a three week break and resume action against King's (PA) on Friday, December 28th at 5:30pm in the Juniata Tournament.
