Farmingdale State - 98, St. Joseph's - 97

Farmingdale, N.Y. - A three-pointer by junior forward Robert Adon (New York, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph) with 0.3 seconds on the clock gave Farmingdale State a 98-97 victory in tonight's men's basketball game against conference opponent St. Joseph's (19-5, 15-4 in the Skyline). The Rams improved to 19-5, 15-4 with the win.

The Golden Eagles scored the first ten points of the night, until senior forward Jermaine Abraham (Brooklyn, N.Y./Wadleigh) sank a free throw to get Farmingdale on the board. St. Joe's held a 13-point lead with 13 minutes to go, before the Rams used a 17-6 run to cut the deficit to just two points, 28-26, on senior guard John Dabney's (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) three-pointer.

The Golden Eagles struck back with junior guard Trey Black's (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) layup, before Dabney made a jumper and Farmingdale trailed again by two points. St. Joe's would hold a 50-43 lead at halftime, after shooting 56-percent from the floor and hitting 9-of-15 from long range (60-percent), including five three's from junior forward Vincent Russo (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville).

In the second half, St. Joe's led until 13:45 when Rams senior guard Keith Nandin (Queens, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) and junior guard Joshua Smith (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) hit back-to-back three's on two possessions to give Farmingdale their first lead of the night, 61-59. The Rams then pushed the lead up to 18 points over the next six minutes, 85-67, with 7:41 left to play.

With Farmingdale in foul trouble, St. Joe's was able to use a 25-6 run to take back the lead, 92-91, with 2:18 remaining in the second. Smith scored a layup on the Rams next trip down the court and junior guard Dyshaun Flournoy (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) added a layup for the 95-92 Farmingdale lead with 1:38 showing on the ticker.

St. Joe's saw junior guard Olivier Laurent (Amityville, N.Y./St. Anthony's) make a layup and another Russo three (his eighth of the night) with six seconds remaining for a 97-95 lead. But after a Rams timeout, their final trip down the floor would give Adon a chance for the three and the eventual 98-97 victory.

Farmingdale had seven players in double digits tonight, led by Flournoy with 19 points and Smith with 14 points. Adon finished with 12 points and Abraham pulled down 13 rebounds. Smith and Nandin each had five assists.

For the Golden Eagles, Russo totaled 28 points and nine rebounds, while Laurent had 26 points and six assists. Black had 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals.
