Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team used a strong first half to take the eventual 81-53 Skyline victory over Bard College (1-18, 1-13) today in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams improved to 10-7, 9-3 with the win.

With 7:29 remaining in the first half, Farmingdale held a 23-22 advantage, before closing out the half with a 17-2 run for the 40-24 halftime lead. Senior forward Jermaine Abraham (Brooklyn, N.Y./Wadleigh) and sophomore guard Ricco Oliver (Brooklyn, N.Y./Boys and Girls) combined for 15 of those 17 points.

In the second, the Rams added 41 more points and would hold on for the conference win as Bard struggled from long range in the half (4-of-18).

Farmingdale State finished with four players in double digits, led by the games only double-double from Joshua Smith with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Dyshaun Flournoy (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) and Oliver each scored a game-high 15 points, while Abraham finished with 12 points. Junior forward Robert Adon (New York, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph) led the team in rebounds with 12 to go along with his eight points.

For Bard, three players finished in double figures. Senior guard Matt Shubert (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) had 14 points, senior forward Christian Marghella (Closter, N.J./Saint Mark's School) had 11 points and junior guard Yonah Greenstein (Rego Park, N.Y./Heschel) had 10 points. Freshman forward Anton Popov (Tel Aviv, Israel/Germantown Friends) recorded three blocks in defeat.

Farmingdale State next will travel to NYU-Poly for a Skyline Conference game on Monday, January 31st at 8:00 p.m.
