Sharp Shooting Sends Rams Past NYU-Poly

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team took a 99-75 victory tonight from NYU-Poly, as they shot 51-percent from the field, 35-percent from long range and 82-percent from the charity stripe. The Rams improved to 3-3, 2-1 in the conference, while NYU-Poly falls to 0-8, 0-6.

With a 48-27 halftime lead, Farmingdale went 20-for-35 in the second half (57.1%) and held on for the win. Six players scored in double figures for the Rams, including a team-high 18 points from junior guard Dyshaun Flournoy (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood). Junior guard Josh Smith (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) and senior forward Jermaine Abraham (Brooklyn, N.Y./Wadleigh) both scored 17 points, while senior guard John Dabney (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) recorded 15. Junior forward Robert Adon (New York, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph) was perfect from the floor with 5 field goals and one free throw for 11 points. Junior forward Davon Henry (New York, N.Y./Wadleigh) rounded out the group with 10 points. Junior guard Richard Payton (Amityville, N.Y./Amityville) grabbed a team-high eight boards, along with five assists and five steals.

For NYU-Poly, senior forward Anthony Mottola (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) scored the games only double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Eddie Johnston (Queens, N.Y./Bronx Science) had a game-high 20 points and junior guard Eric Southworth (Dutch Harbor, Ak./Unalaska City School) finished with 19 points.

Farmingdale State will now face Bard College on December 11th at 4:00 p.m.
