Hempstead, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team fell to Division I Hofstra University in an exhibition game Saturday afternoon. The Rams trailed 46-27 at the half, before eventually falling to the Pride 102-62 at the Mack Sports Complex.

Farmingdale State was led by junior guard Joshua Smith (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) who scored a team-high 14 points. Junior forward Robert Adon (New York, N.Y./A. Philip Randolph) scored nine, while senior guard John Dabney (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) pitched in with eight points in 15 minutes of action for the Rams.

Senior guard Charles Jenkins (Queens, N.Y./Springfield Gardens), a two-time winner of the Haggerty Award for the top player in the Metropolitan New York Area, was 10-for-13 from the floor, scoring a game-high 26 points to go along with eight assists and four steals for Hofstra (1-0). Freshman guard Shemiye McLendon (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach) added 16 points for the Pride. 

Farmingdale State will open the regular season against Virginia-Wise in the Hampden-Sydney Tournament on Friday, November 19th at 9:00 p.m.
