Men’s Basketball End of Season

The men’s basketball team finished the season 20-9 and
received the Sportsmanship Award in the Skyline Conference. The
team finished the regular season with a 14-0 undefeated conference
record, earning the top seed in the Skyline Playoffs. After an
upset by Mount Saint Mary College in the Skyline Finals, the Rams
earned a #3 seed in the ECAC Tournament. Two players broke the
1,000 point scoring mark this season, senior Damien McKenzie became
the All-Time leading scorer with 1,349 points, while junior Kenny
McMillan will have one year left to add to his total 1,232 points.
The men’s team had three players named
to the All-Conference team. McMillan was named Player of the Year,
while McKenzie and junior Dashawn Warren were named to the Skyline
2nd Team. Head coach Erik Smiles was named Coach of the Year after
leading the team to a 14-0 record and the Skyline Finals in his
first season. He was also named Co-Coach of the Year by the
Basketball Coaches Association of New York for his
accomplishments.
On May 9th, 2005, Kenny McMillan was named the Farmingdale State
Male Athlete of the Year at the Farmingdale State Athletic Banquet.
Erik Smiles Named BCANY Coach of the
Year

Erik Smiles, Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Farmingdale State, was named the Basketball Coach Association of New York Men’s Division III Co-Coach of the Year on April 25th, 2005. The Basketball Coaches Association of New York, Inc. is an organization that is made up of basketball coaches of all scholastic and collegiate levels throughout the entire State of New York. Coach Smiles was selected as BCANY, Coach of the Year by a sub-committee of the BCANY Board of Directors, chaired by coach Ed Jones, former coach at Plattsburgh State University. The Coach of the Year Awards will be presented at our Annual BCANY Clinic this coming fall, September 30 – October 1, 2005 in Binghamton, NY.
Kenny McMillan Named All-Met First

Junior forward Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) was selected
to the All-Met First Team All-Star after helping the Rams to an
18-7 regular-season record and a perfect 14-0 mark in Skyline
Conference play. He was also named ECAC Metro First Team and
D3Hoops All-Atlantic Region First Team. McMillan led the Skyline
Conference in both rebounding (10.9) and steals (3.38) while
ranking third in field-goal percentage (.546) and fourth in scoring
(18.4 points). In 28 games through the Skyline Conference
Tournament, McMillan recorded 15 double-doubles. He scored his
1,000th career point on January 29 in just his third
season.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts -- The Commissioner of the ECAC, Phil
Buttafuoco, has announced today the ECAC Division III Men's Metro
Basketball All-Star team and Player of the Year by a vote of the
ECAC coaches. Farmingdale State’s Kenny McMillian (Bronx,
NY/All Hallows) represents both Farmingdale State and the Skyline
Conference on the first-team roster this year. The junior forward
was named the Skyline Player of the Year for his efforts in
bringing Farmingdale to an undefeated 14-0 league record. McMillian
led the league in rebounding (10.9 rpg) and steals with 85.

All-Region Teams

STERLING, Va. -- D3hoops.com has announced the fourth annual D3hoops.com All-Region team for Division III men’s and women’s basketball.
Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, who were contacted several times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. A record 606 players were nominated nationwide.
The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for 10 players in their region. SIDs voted for six frontcourt players and four backcourt players and the top vote-getters at each position were named to the All-Region team.
"We are thankful to the Sports Information Directors across Division III who took the time to nominate and vote to provide broader recognition to these worthy student-athletes," said D3hoops.com publisher Pat Coleman. "Participation continues to grow each year and that only strengthens the team.”
Junior forward Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) was selected First Team All-Atlantic Region. Kenny was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Year after helping the Rams to an 18-7 regular-season record and a perfect 14-0 mark in Skyline Conference play. McMillan ranks 4th in the nation for steals (3.4 per game) and 14th in the nation for rebounding (10.9 per game). He led the conference in both rebounding and steals, while ranking third in field-goal percentage (.549) and fourth in scoring (18.4 points). In 29 games, McMillan recorded 15 double-doubles. He scored his 1,000th career point on Jan. 29 in just his third season and has 1,232 points to date.
Senior forward Sharon Billips (Brooklyn, NY/John Jay) was named First Team All-Atlantic Region. Sharon is ranked third in the nation in scoring at 22.3 points per game, was named the Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) MVP and All-Skyline First Team. During the season, She was named Skyline Player of the Week four times, WIAC Player of the Week seven times, ECAC player of the week twice, D3Hoops.com team of the week member once and was consistently seen on the Met Basketball and Skyline honor roll this season. Sharon scored a total of 648 points this season and was ranked in 8-of-9 Skyline statistical categories – leading the conference in scoring and blocks. She finished the season shooting .476 FG%, .283 3FG%, and .710 FT%, with single game season-highs of 31 points, 20 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 blocks.
Farmingdale State Men’s Basketball Receives Sportsmanship Award

The Skyline Conference awards were announced on March
1st, 2005 and Farmingdale State Men’s Basketball
claimed both the Player and Coach of the Year awards, and most
importantly: the Sportsmanship Award. In just the second year in
the conference, the Rams finished with a perfect 14-0 conference
record during the regular season, attaining the top seed in the
conference tournament and going all the way to the Skyline Finals.
Unfortunately, the Rams were upset by #2 seed Mount Saint Mary and
were deprived of the chance to dance in the NCAA Tournament. Since
it is not very common to see an undefeated conference team win the
sportsmanship award, the school is very proud to see our team be
given this award. According to athletic director Mike Harrington,
“the sportsmanship award is one of the most prestigious
awards we could receive. It is voted on by opposing coaches and
that shows that we are respected by our opponents.” After
such a great season in only the second year in the Skyline, one can
only imagine what the future will bring for Farmingdale
State…

Kean University (15-11) defeated Farmingdale State (20-9) 75-65 in tonight’s ECAC first round game of the Division III Metro Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Rams took the first lead early and held Kean until the 7-minute mark before Bryan Keller (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) knocked down a three-pointer to put the Cougars ahead 23-21 to start a 15-0 run by Kean. The Cougars led 39-28 at the half and would not see their lead diminish until the six-minute mark of the second as the Rams went on a 13-2 run to go up by one. But Kean battled back and took the final lead of the game, moving onto the semifinal round against #2 seeded Lehman College on Friday, March 4th.
Kean’s Keller led the team in scoring with 16 points, shooting 3-for-4 from behind the arc. BJ Hamby (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) and Tan Kesler (Istanbul, Turkey/Paksoy Lisesi) both finished with 13 points for the Cougars. Armet Coles (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter’s) scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.

The 2004-2005 All-Skyline Conference Men’s Basketball Team
was announced on Tuesday, March 1st, 2005 with
Farmingdale receiving multiple awards.
Junior forward Kenny McMillan has been selected as the Skyline
Conference Player of the Year after helping the Rams to an 18-7
regular-season record and a perfect 14-0 mark in Skyline Conference
play. McMillan led the conference in both rebounding (11.0) and
steals (3.36) while ranking third in field-goal percentage (.549)
and fourth in scoring (18.4 points). In 28 games through the
Skyline Conference Tournament, McMillan has recorded 15
double-doubles. He scored his 1,000th career point on
January 29 in just his third season.
First year head coach Erik Smiles has been recognized as the
Skyline Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Rams to a
20-8 record and 14-0 mark in Skyline Conference play. Picked fourth
in the Skyline preseason poll, Smiles’ squad earned the top
seed in the conference tournament after going unbeaten in
regular-season conference play. Farmingdale State is now the third
seed in the ECAC Metro Tournament.
Senior forward Damien McKenzie was named to the Second Team
All-Skyline. A senior starting forward for the Rams, Damien is
second on the team in scoring and finished 18th in the
conference (11.8 points). Damien became the All-Time leading scorer
at Farmingdale on February 26th with a total of 1,340
points.
Junior guard Dashawn Warren was selected to the All-Skyline Second
Team. Dashawn totaled 102 assists this year as the Rams starting
guard. He is the fourth leading scorer for the Rams with 10.4
points and second in steals with 45. He averaged 1.92 field goals
per game and shot .302 from three-point range throughout regular
season play.

The #2 seeded Mount Saint Mary Blue Knights (17-10) upset #1 seed
Farmingdale State (20-8) to become the 2004-05 Skyline Conference
Men’s Basketball Champions. Mount Saint Mary now receives the
automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will find out their
opponent tomorrow during Selection Sunday.
After a tied first half 34-34, the Blue Knights took a quick lead
in the second and would only trail for one minute of the second
half. The Rams cut the lead to four points with 49 seconds left,
before junior Brandon Welden (Elmsford, NY/Alexander Hamilton)
sealed the victory for the Blue Knights hitting four free throws in
the final minute. Weldon finished the night with 21 points, 5
assists and four steals. Sophomore Mike Hoyt (Florida, NY/S.S.
Seward) hit 4-of-9 behind the arc, totaling 19 points for Mount
Saint Mary. Senior Roberto King (Hempstead, NY/Holy Trinity)
chipped in 16 points.
Junior Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) led the Rams in
scoring with 18 points and had four steals. Senior Damien McKenzie
(Lakeview, NY/Malverne) totaled 14 points, breaking the schools
All-Time scoring record with 1339 points to date. Freshman Brandon
Nieves (Harlem, NY/All Hallows) finished with 15 points, shooting
3-of-6 from behind the arc.
Farmingdale State will now await an ECAC bid to continue the 04-05
season.

Junior Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) hit a running
one-hander with 1.5 seconds left, sending Farmingdale State (20-7)
to the Skyline Finals. Manhattanville’s final second heave
was tipped away by freshman Warren McAllister (Far Rockaway, NY/Far
Rockaway) to end the game. Junior Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All
Hallows) finished with a game-high 25 points and eight rebounds
– 8-for-11 from the field and 9-of-13 from the free throw
line.
Warren finished the game with six points, six assists and two
steals for Farmingdale. Freshman Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All
Hallows) totaled 19 points, shooting 3-for-5 from behind the arc.
Senior Damien McKenzie (Lakeview, NY/Malverne) scored 8 points,
grabbed six rebounds and blocked four shots.
Four players finished in double figures for Manhattanville. John
DiBetta (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla) led the Valiants with 21 points and
seven rebounds. Mike Benziger (Sonoma, CA/Sonoma Valley) scored 20
points, while Donte Chisolm (Mt. Vernon, NY/St. Raymond) and Jerry
Fiefie (Stamford, CT/Westhill) both chipped in 12 points and
finished with double-doubles.
The Rams will host the Mount Saint Mary (16-10) men’s team
tomorrow night, Saturday, February 26th at 8:00pm. Our
women’s basketball team also made it to the Skyline Finals,
they will travel to face Mount Saint Mary women tomorrow night at
8:00pm.

The Rams (19-7, 15-0 Skyline) advanced to the semifinal round of
the Skyline playoffs with an 83-58 victory over Mount Saint Vincent
(13-14, 6-10 Skyline) on Tuesday night. Farmingdale broke out to a
quick lead as Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) scored 15 of
the Rams first 20 points and tallied a double-double with 5:38 left
in the first half. McMillan finished with game-highs of 27 points,
16 rebounds and six steals.
Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) finished with 12 points,
seven rebounds, eight assists and seven steals. Damien McKenzie
(Lakeview, NY/Malverne) had 13 points, seven boards and two blocks
for Farmingdale.
Mount Saint Vincent’s James Mooney (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) led
the Dolphins with 14 points. Charles Hernandez (Bronx, NY/Msgr.
Scanlan) controlled the boards with a team-high eight rebounds, to
go along with eight steals.
The Rams will host Manhattanville College in the semifinal round
on Thursday, February 24th at 8:00pm, to be played after
the women’s game vs. Stevens at 6:00pm.

The Farmingdale State men’s basketball team ended the
regular season with an 83-68 win over Old Westbury (11-14, 8-6) on
Saturday night. The Rams finish the season 18-7 overall and an
undefeated 14-0 in the Skyline Conference. The men are seeded first
in the upcoming tournament, giving them home court advantage
throughout the playoffs.
Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) was one asssit shy of a
triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and a game-high nine
assists. Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) was the leading
scorer for Farmingdale with 21 points and six rebounds. Senior
Damien McKenzie (Lakeview, NY/Malverne) finished with 17 points,
while freshman Peter Lipka (Shelton, CT/Shelton) added 14
points.
Kevin St. Pierre (Rosedale, NY/Jamaica) tallied 16 points for the
Panthers, while Ian Johnson (Jamaica, NY/John Adams) finished with
15 points. Sal Clark (New York, NY/Our Savior Lutheran) scored 12
points and grabbed seven boards.
Farmingdale will host the lowest seed of three Skyline Play-In
games in the Skyline quarterfinal on Tuesday night, February
22nd. Tip-off will be at 8:00pm following the 6:00pm
women’s game. The Play-in games take place on Monday night,
February 21st. The men’s opponent will be determined by the
results of the Mount Saint Vincent/St. Joseph’s, Old
Westbury/Centenary and Yeshiva/Maritime games.

Basketball Ranked in Atlantic Region

The NCAA Division III men’s and women’s basketball
committee released its regional rankings Wednesday afternoon. The
Farmingdale State men’s basketball team is ranked fourth in
the Atlantic region, while the women stand at sixth in the Atlantic
region. The men enter the Atlantic rankings behind Ramapo, New
Jersey City and Lehman. The women join the rankings behind Mount
Saint Mary, Staten Island, New Jersey City, Mary Washington, and
Catholic. Both the men and women begin the Skyline Playoffs in the
quarterfinal rounds on Tuesday, February 22nd. We will
be hosting the games as a double-header - women at 6:00pm, men at
8:00pm.

Farmingdale State (17-7) fell short 68-66 despite fighting off a
12-point deficit in the second half against NYCCT (18-5). The Rams
trailed 38-26 at the half, but quickly showed promise as they cut
the lead to three after three 3-pointers by Brandon Nieves (Harlem,
NY/All Hallows) and Peter Lipka (Shelton, CT/Shelton). Farmingdale
pressured throughout the second and took the game down to the wire
trailing by two points with eight seconds remaining. Dashawn Warren
(Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) took the final shot for the Rams, but a
blocked shot by Shacun Malave (Bronx, NY/Dewitt Clinton) gave NYCCT
the victory.
Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) grabbed a game-high 15
rebounds for Farmingdale along with 11 points and three blocks.
Lipka and Nieves also finished with 11 points for the Rams.
Clyde Forteau (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond’s) led the Yellow
Jackets with 19 points, 6-for-10 from three-point land. Terrin
Johnson (Brooklyn, NY/Curtis) contributed 18 points, while Malave
racked up 14 points, seven boards and five blocks. Ray Paul
(Brooklyn, NY/Thomas Edison) finished with nine points and grabbed
10 boards.
The Rams finish up the regular season away on Saturday, February
19th against Old Westbury for a Skyline Conference game.

Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) and Peter Lipka (Shelton,
CT/Shelton) led the Rams (17-6, 13-0) to a 67-54 Valentine’s
night Skyline victory over St. Joseph’s (9-12, 4-7). McMillan
finished with a game-high 19 points, eight rebounds and six
assists, while Lipka notched 16 points and four rebounds for
Farmingdale. The Rams trailed 32-26 at the half, but shot 60.7
percent from the field to help them towards a comeback win.
Alvin Bray (Brentwood, NY/Benjamin E. Mays) led the Golden Eagles
with 12 points. Mike Massa (St. James, NY/Smithtown) totaled 11
points and eight rebounds, while Stu Coleman added 10 points.
Farmingdale hosts NYCCT on Wednesday night, February
16th in a non-conference double-header, their final
regular season home game. The women start at 6:00pm and the men
will tip-off at 8:00pm.

The Farmingdale State Men’s Basketball team clinched the #1
seed in the conference to guarantee home court advantage in the
upcoming Skyline playoffs, with an 80-70 victory over Stevens
(11-10, 7-4) on Wednesday night. The Rams, who have won nine of
their last 10 games, improved to 16-6 overall and remain a perfect
12-0 in Skyline play. Farmingdale jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead in
the first two minutes of the game with a 3-pointer by freshman
Peter Lipka (Shelton, CT/Shelton) and two consecutive three’s
by freshman Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All Hallows). The Rams held
a 39-24 lead at the half and would not let the lead slip past nine
points throughout the second.
Farmingdale finished the game shooting 54.0 percent, converting on
7 of 12 attempts from 3-point territory, and held a 38-29
rebounding advantage. Nieves led Farmingdale with 24 points –
18 in the first half shooting 7-for-7. Junior Kenny McMillan
(Bronx, NY/All Hallows) scored his fourth double-double in as many
games finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Dashawn
Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) contributed 11 point, six rebounds
and four assists.
Stevens Waleed Farid (Woodside, NY/Stuyvesant) finished with 25
points and three steals, while Tim Williams (Selden, NY/Newfield)
tallied 14 points and six rebounds for the Ducks.
The Rams return to action on Monday night, February
14th when they host St. Joseph’s College at 8:00
pm in a conference double-header with the women’s team.
Skyline Conference playoffs will begin on February 22nd
with the quarterfinal rounds, followed by the semifinals on the
24th and the finals on the 26th.

Farmingdale State junior Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows)
was named ECAC Metro and Skyline Player of the Week this week,
along with making the Met Basketball honor roll. Kenny averaged a
double-double – 19.5 points, 10.0 rebounds along with 5.5
steals – in helping Farmingdale State University earn a pair
of Skyline Conference victories. McMillan scored 25 points with
eight rebounds, eight steals and three blocks in just 24 minutes
against Maritime. He then contributed 14 points, including the
1,000th of his career, and 12 rebounds in a 73-59 win
over Mount Saint Mary.
Rams Win Again in Double-Overtime

For the second time in three games, Farmingdale came away with a double-overtime road victory, this time defeating The College of Staten Island 96-94. The Rams led by 12 with six minutes remaining in regulation before Staten Island (12-10) tied the score with 30 seconds left to force overtime.
Farmingdale's Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All Hallows) scored 8 of his team-high 26 points in overtime leading the Rams down the stretch. Nieves added 10 rebounds and 4 assists for Farmingdale (15-6, 11-0 Skyline), who saw four players score in double figures. Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) had his third straight double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing a game-high 18 rebounds for Farmingdale. Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) and Damien McKenzie (Lakeview, NY/Malverne) chipped in with 15 points each for the Rams, who resume Skyline play tomorrow night at Stevens Tech.

The men's basketball team dropped a non-conference game on Saturday losing to Lehman College 79-70. The loss ended Farmingdale's seven game winning streak dating back to their January 15th defeat at William Paterson. Farmingdale (14-6, 11-0 Skyline) shot just 38.5 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from the line against Lehman (17-5, 10-1 CUNY).
Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) led the Rams with 14 points, 18 rebounds and three steals while guards Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) and Pete Lipka (Shelton, CT/Shelton) added 9 points each.
Miguel Jorge (Bronx, NY/Centro de E.D.R.) and Sekani Francis (Bronx, NY/Kennedy) led Lehman with 22 points each, with Francis grabbing a team-high 13 rebounds for the Lightning.
The Rams hope to bounce back as they travel to The College of Staten Island tonight (2/7) for a non-conference game before resuming Skyline play on Wednesday, February 9 at Stevens Tech.

The men's basketball team improved to 11-0 in the Skyline Conference after last night's 67-63 double-overtime win over host Yeshiva University. The Rams trailed by 10 points at the half and by 17 with 14 minutes remaining before mounting a huge comeback. Farmingdale came all the way back and led by four with three minutes remaining and held the lead until Yeshiva's Harel Vatavu (Ramat Gan, Isreal/Blich) tied the score at 53 with five seconds left in regulation to force the extra period. Farmingdale then tied the game with one minute remaining in the first OT on a Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All Hallows) jumper. The Rams finally took control in the second OT and secured the win after Jimmy Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Cedar Grove) hit two free-throws with seven seconds left.
Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) had another great game for the Rams, scoring a game-high 24 points to go along 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Farmingdale, who now play two non-conference games before their February 9th contest at Stevens Tech.
Conference leading scorer Roy Goldstein (Beer-Sheva, Israel/Magif Gimmel) led Yeshiva with 22 points, while Vatavu chipped in with 14 points and six rebounds.
Farmingdale needs one win in their final three Conference games to clinch the #1 seed and home court throughout the playoffs. The Skyline Conference Playoffs are February 22, 24 and the Finals on the 26th, all played at the higher seed.

The men’s basketball team improved to 13-5, 10-0 in the Skyline with a low scoring 64-62 victory over King’s Point (10-8, 4-3). McMillan scored the game tying lay-up on a fast break at the 2:20 mark and McKenzie sunk the game winning free-throw with 1:14 remaining. With 1.2 seconds remaining, Junior Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) hit the first of two free-throws and would intentionally miss the second shot to run out the clock. McMillan finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and five steals for Farmingdale, McKenzie totaled 13 points and Warren chipped in nine points.
Josh Buck (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw) led the Mariners with 20 points and nine boards. Stephen McDade (Bellmore, NY/Kellenberg) tallied 13 points, including 3-for-4 from behind the arc. Zach Wyatte (Camp Hill, PA/Trinity) had nine points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

points and 12 rebounds, leading the Rams (12-5, 9-0) to a 73-59 win
over Mount Saint Mary (10-7, 8-2). McMillan laid in his
1,000th point after a steal with 6:17 remaining in the
game. He is only the second player to reach this mark since
Farmingdale joined the NCAA in 2000. Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All
Hallows) led the Rams with 15 points, while Jimmy Williams
(Philadelphia, PA/Cedar Grove) finished with 12.
The Blue Knights were led by sophomore Mike Hoyt (Florida, NY/S.S.

with 23 and 20 points, respectively, to remain undefeated in the
Skyline Conference with a 92-84 win over the College of Mount Saint
Vincent (5-10, 3-6). Farmingdale trailed by one point at the half,
but shot 51-percent from the field in the second for a total of 50
points, en route to their eighth conference victory of the season.
The Rams are now 10-5 overall.
Warren added eight assists and six rebounds to his team-leading 23
points, while McMillan completed a double-double with 20 points and
a game-high 13 boards. Damien McKenzie (Lakeview, NY/Malverne)
finished with 13 points and eight rebounds for Farmingdale.
Freshman Warren McAllister (Far Rockaway, NY/Far Rockaway) came off
the bench to score 10 points.
Mount Saint Vincent was led by James Mooney with 31 points, 6

three’s with five coming in the first half. Warren also
totaled seven boards, four assists, three steals and one block as
he led the Rams to their sixth Skyline Conference victory over
King’s Point 74-56. The Rams improve to 9-5, 6-0 Skyline,
while the Mariners fall to 7-7, 2-2 Skyline.
Farmingdale State had three others in double-figures. Junior Kenny
McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows), who is currently 55 points away
from his 1,000th point, finished with 12 points, three steals and
three assists. Senior Damien McKenzie (Lakeview, NY/Malverne) and
freshman Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All Hallows) both chipped in 10
points for the Rams.
The high scorer for Merchant Marine was junior Lou DeCarlo (York,
PA/Trinity) with 10 points. Josh Buck (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw) grabbed a

points, including 4-for-7 from three point range, in an 83-56 win
over Skyline opponent Centenary College. Farmingdale State trailed
35-34 at the half, but used a 20-2 run to begin the second half and
take a 19-point lead. The Rams shot 70-percent from behind the arc
(7-for10) in the second, outscoring Centenary 49-21. Farmingdale
improves to 8-5 overall and 5-0 in the Skyline. Centenary falls to
0-14, 0-8 Skyline. Farmingdale’s Kenny McMillan (Bronx,
NY/All Hallows) had the games only double-double with 11 points and
12 rebounds.
Freshman Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All Hallows) scored 14 points

The Farmingdale State men’s basketball team improved to 7-4,
4-0 in the Skyline with a 71-54 win over defending conference
champions Old Westbury (6-9, 3-2 Skyline). The game was known as
the most anticipated game of the season for Rams fans and proved
worthy after tonight. After a low scoring first half, 23-16, a
seven point lead by Farmingdale, the Rams stepped it up to score 48
points in the second and clinched the “W”.
Senior Damien McKenzie (Lakeview, NY/Malverne) had a huge night
for Farmingdale with 20 points and eight rebounds, along with his
60-percent from the field and 8-for-9 from the line. Junior Kenny
McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) led the Rams with 21 points and
nine boards, while Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant)
finished with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Old Westbury was led by Russell Brereton (Amityville, NY/Copiague)
and Sal Clark (Harlem, NY/Our Savior Lutheran) with 12 points each.

The Rams improved to 6-4, 3-0 Skyline after an 83-74 win over St.
Joseph’s College (2-8, 0-3). Junior Dashawn Warren (Astoria,
NY/W.C. Bryant) led Farmingdale State with 20 points, eight
rebounds and eight assists. Kenny McMillian (Bronx, NY/All Hallows)
added 15 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All
Hallows) added 16 points. The Rams shot 10-for-18 from three-point
range.
Patrick Eagan led St. Joseph's with 28 points, and was 6-for-10
from the three-point line. Ryan Baumbach finished with 14 points
and 11 rebounds, the games only double-double.
Farmingdale State will host conference rival Old Westbury on
Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. This is one of the most anticipated
games of the season for the Ram fans. Old Westbury defeated
Farmingdale 73-66 in the ‘03-‘04 tournament semifinals
and advanced to become the Skyline Champions.
Farmingdale Basketball Ends Semester
on a High Note

The Men’s and Women’s Basketball players at
Farmingdale State have received many awards this semester for their
exceptional performances on the court. As the fall semester comes
to an end, the women’s team is 6-2 overall, 4-0 Skyline while
the men’s team stands at 5-3, 2-0 Skyline. For the week of
December 20th, four of our student-athletes picked up
Player and Rookie of the Week honors in our respective conferences
and were also named to the Honor Roll for the Met Basketball
Writer’s Association.
Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All Hallows) and I’shawna West
(Hempstead, NY/Hempstead) were named the Skyline Rookie’s of
the Week. Brandon averaged 11.3 points in three games for the Rams
last week. He was named to the all-tournament team at the Keystone
College Holiday Tournament, averaging 14.0 points in helping the
Rams to the championship game. Nieves scored a team-leading 16
points against Keystone in the final.
West continues her torrid scoring pace. She has been named Rookie
of the Week three times in the Skyline Conference and four times in
the Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) during
the first four weeks of the season. West, who ranks second in the
conference in scoring, finished with a game-high 22 points in only
19 minutes in the Rams’ 78-33 win over CCNY. For the season,
West is currently averaging 18.8 points and 2.13 3-pointers per
game. Farmingdale State has won six straight games to climb atop
the Skyline Conference standings.
Billips, who leads the Skyline Conference in scoring, was named to
the Skyline and Met Basketball Honor Roll and was named Player of
the Week in the WIAC for the fourth consecutive time. In the Rams
only game this week, Billips continued her outstanding play against
CCNY. With only three assists shy of a triple-double, Billips
posted 18 points, 14 boards and 3 blocks. Sharon has shown her
consistency this season as she is averaging 23.3 points and 8.6
rebounds.
Junior Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) was also on the
Skyline and Met Basketball Honor Roll. Kenny averaged 20.3 points,
9.7 rebounds and 3.3 steals in three games for the Rams. He was
named to the all-tournament team, along with Nieves, at the
Keystone Holiday Tournament.
The Rams have finished the first half of the 2004-2005 schedule
and will resume play after break. The women will tip-off in 2005 at
Montclair State on January 6th at 7:00 p.m. The men will
travel to St. Joseph’s College for a conference game on
January 10th at 7:00 p.m.

The Rams took second place at the Keystone Holiday Tournament in
LaPlume, Pennsylvania over the past weekend. Junior Kenny McMillan
(Bronx, NY/All Hallows) and freshman Brandon Nieves (Harlem, NY/All
Hallows) were named to the All-Tournament Team. McMillan finished
with 33 points, 20 rebounds, two assists and four steals. Nieves
posted 28 points, 6 rebounds, one assist and two steals.
In the first game, the Rams defeated Marymount University 78-72
led by McMillan’s 22 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Damien
McKenzie (Lakeview, NY/Malverne) was second in scoring with 15
points and seven boards.
In the Championship game against Keystone, Farmingdale sunk seven
three’s for a 40-37 lead at the half. The Rams struggled from
the field in the second and fell to Keystone 88-68. Nieves led the
Rams with 16 points. Senior Jimmy Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Cedar
Grove) finished with 12 points.

After the women’s team walked away with a 78-33 victory
against the Lady Beavers, the men completed the sweep against CCNY
with an 85-70 win. City College trailed 36-24 at the half but was
not able to overcome the deficit. Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All
Hallows) led the Rams with game highs of 28 points and nine
rebounds. Dashawn Warren (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) posted 20
points, including six three pointers for Farmingdale, while Jimmy
Williams (Philadelphia, PA/Cedar Grove) had 14 points and eight
rebounds.
High scorers for the Beavers were James Boddie (Castle Hill,
NY/Jane Adams) with 14 points, Avain Gourdine (N.East Bronx,
NY/Manhattan Center) with 11. Robert Barker (Brownsville,
NY/LaSalle Acad.) and Andrew Mungin (Highbridge, NY/Vanguard) both
had 10 points each.
The Rams will finish off the fall semester after traveling to
Pennsylvania this weekend for the Keystone College Holiday
Tournament. They will play Marymount on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and
then play in the Consolation or Championship game on Sunday at Noon

the Rams eight points. The Rams are now 3-3 overall and 2-0 in the
Skyline, while Maritime falls to 0-8, 0-2 Skyline.
McKenzie finished with a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Manhattanville College Valiants (4-3, 1-2 Skyline) 88-68 in a home
conference game. The Rams took a 44-24 commanding lead into the
half led by Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows), who posted a
double-double in the first half with 16 points and 10 boards.
Manhattanville trailed 60-36 with 14 minutes remaining before going
on a 17-2 run led by freshman Donte Chisolm (Mt. Vernon, NY/St.
Raymond’s) and junior Mike Benziger (Sonoma, CA/Sonoma
Valley). Farmingdale did not let the lead slip past nine and would
go on for their first conference victory of the season.
Farmingdale was led by McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) with a

the Baruch College Bearcats (4-1). Baruch won their third
consecutive game and finished with five total players in
double-digits. Louie Karis (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) and Cheick
Fadika (Abidjan, Ivory Coast/Petit College, Morocco) led the
Bearcats with 17 points each. The Rams were outscored 50-30 in the
second half as they struggled shooting 22-percent from the
field.

Kenny led the Rams to a third place finish as they defeated Kenyon

Farmingdale opened the 2004-05 season in the Salem Bank and Trust
Tip-Off Tournament at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. The Rams
faced host Roanoke College in first round action on Saturday night.
Farmingdale trailed 42-33 at halftime but made a come back as they
trailed by one-point twice late in the second. Roanoke, however,
would seal the victory with two seconds remaining as Jared Butler
(Springfield, VA/West Springfield) made a free throw for a
three-point lead.
The Rams were led by Kenny McMillan (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) who
had 22 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. He ended the contest
with eight offensive rebounds, seven coming in the second half.
Freshman Brandon Nieves (New York, NY/All Hallows) also reached
double-figures for Farmingdale with 12 points, while Dashawn Warren
(Astoria, NY/Bryant) grabbed 8 rebounds and posted 7 points.
Farmingdale will face Kenyon College in the consolation game on

Men's and Women's Basketball Season
Openers

The men's and women's basketball teams will open the 2004-05
season this weekend. The men's team will be traveling to Salem,
Virginia to take part in the Salem Bank and Trust Tournament at
Roanoke College. The women will be traveling to NYU to compete in
the NYU Tip-Off Tournament. The Skyline preseason poll was released
on November 17th with the women ranking 2nd and the men ranking 4th
by the Skyline opposing coaches.
The men open up against Roanoke College on Saturday at 7pm, while
the tourney starts with Goucher and Kenyon College at 5pm. The
championship or consolation game is on Sunday at 1pm or 3pm.
The women's opener will take place on Friday at 8pm against
Cortland State. NYU and Staten Island tip off at 6pm. NYU is
currently ranked 3rd in the D3Hoops.com preseason women's poll. The
championship or consolation game will be played on Saturday at 6 or
8pm.
