Harrisburg, Penn. - The Farmingdale State men's golf team opened the season at the Penn State Harrisburg Fall Invitational held at the Country Club of Harrisburg. The Rams posted a day one score of 312 and followed with a 307 on Sunday for a two-day total of 619 and a fifth place finish out of 16 teams.
Junior Patrick O'Halloran (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), who was competing in his first tournament at FSC, fired rounds of 73 and 76 for a total of 149 and a T5 finish. Sophomore Gary Cohan (Kings Park, N.Y.) carded back-to-back 76's (152) to place tied for 15th, while junior Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) rebounded after an 84 in round one with a 3-over par 74 on Sunday for a two-day total of 158.
McDaniel (296-292-588) claimed the team title after finishing 17 strokes ahead of runner-up York (PA) (302-303-605). Franklin & Marshall (304-306-610) and Rosemont (298-313-611) placed third and fourth, respectively in the event.
Individually, Shawn MacBurnie of McDaniel earned medalist honors with a two-day total of 143 (71-72), while teammate Brandon Vance (74-71-145) took second place.
Farmingdale State next will travel to Downingtown Country Club in Downingtown, Penn. for the Rosemont Raven Invitational on September 23rd & 24th.
