- Women place second, Men take fourth -
Purchase, N.Y. - At the Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships at Purchase College on Wednesday, the women placed second, while the men finished in fourth. Farmingdale State sophomore Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Runner of the Year honors after winning the women's 6K in a time of 23:39.81 and sophomore James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) placed second (26:51.80) in the men's 8K race.
Lettieri finished 45 seconds ahead of runner-up Erin MacDonell (St. Joseph's-LI) in the field of 75 runners. FSC senior Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) recorded a seventh place finish in 25:03.87 to earn First Team All-Conference honors. Sophomore Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) was named to the Second Team after taking 11th place in 25:17.62, while sophomore Erica Bavaro (West Islip, N.Y.) placed 15th (25:49.65). Sophomore Alicia Shipsey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) rounded out the top-5 for the Rams in 26:09.12 (17th place).
In the men's race, O'Brien's second place finish out of 93 runners earned him First-Team All-Conference honors, while sophomore David Santa (Maspeth, N.Y.) placed 11th individually (28:19.62) and was named Second Team All-Skyline. Junior Greg Rachman (Huntington, N.Y.) (30:02.85) and sophomore Nicholas Ferro (Greenlawn, N.Y.) (30:06.98) finished in 28th and 29th, respectively, for Farmingdale State.
