Women Take First Place at Purchase Invite; Men Finish 6th


Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's cross country team opened the season with a first place team finish at the Purchase Invitational, while the men's team finished in sixth place.

The women ran a 6K race and finished with an average time of 25:59.82. The Rams held three top-10 finishes in the meet, as sophomore Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) took a 3rd place individual finish in 24:34.74, senior Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) finished in 6th place (25:02.11) and sophomore Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) took a 9th place finish (25:33.63). The top five Rams were rounded out by sophomore Alicia Shipsey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) in 20th place and senior Megan Eiseman (Seaford, N.Y.) in 26th place.

In the men's 8K race, sophomore James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) took 3rd place individually in 27:56.74, sophomore David Santa (Maspeth, N.Y.) posted a 25th place finish and sophomore Nicholas Ferro (Greenlawn, N.Y.) came in 30th place.

Farmingdale State will next run on Saturday, September 23rd at the Bard College Invitational in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
