Cross Country Season Recap

Farmingdale, N.Y. - For the first time in the program's history, the women's cross country team won the Skyline Conference Championship this season. The men's team placed fifth out of 10 teams at the Championship meet.

Junior Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) was named First Team All-Skyline for her performance at the Championships, while freshmen Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.), Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) and Erica Bavaro (West Islip, N.Y.) were named to the All-Conference Second Team.

At the Championship Franz led the Rams with a 4th place individual finish in 25:00.8, followed by Ferguson in 9th, Lettieri in 10th, and Bavaro in 11th.

The Rams placed among the top five all season long. They won the first meet of the season at the Purchase College Invitational behind Franz's individual second place finish.

The women also took home second at both the LIU Post Invitational and the 17th Annual St. Joseph's Invitational.

In the men's Skyline Championship race, freshman James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finished in 8th place individually (28:14.8) to lead Farmingdale State and receive Second Team All-Skyline honors.

The men's best finish came at the Purchase College Invitational where they placed third. Senior Belony Borange (Valley Stream, N.Y.) posted an eigth place finish, while sophomore Franklin Turcios (Westbury, N.Y.) finished in 22nd place.

The men's and women's teams wrapped up the 2016 season at the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, November 12th at Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. The women placed 28th out of 43 teams, while the men took 36th out of the 44 competing schools.
