Women's Cross Country Wins First-Ever Skyline Championship; Men Take 5th

Women's 6K - 1st place; Men's 8K - 5th place


Sayville, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's cross country team won their first-ever Skyline Conference Championship today at Broadway Avenue Park in Sayville, N.Y. The men's team took fifth place at the Championship. Farmingdale State Head Coach, Daniela Georgieva, was also named the Skyline Conference Coach of the Year.

Junior Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) led the Rams with a 4th place individual finish in 25:00.8, followed by freshmen Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) in 9th, Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) in 10th, Erica Bavaro (West Islip, N.Y.) in 11th and Giselle Barrios (Central Islip, N.Y.). Franz was named First Team All-Skyline for her finish, while Ferguson, Lettieri and Bavaro were named All-Skyline Second Team.

In the men's race, freshman James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finished in 8th place individually (28:14.8) to lead Farmingdale State and receive Second Team All-Skyline honors. Senior Belony Borange (Valley Stream, N.Y.) took 15th place in a time of 29:06.4.
