Freshmen Lead Rams at St. Joe's Invite


Kings Park, N.Y. - Freshmen Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) and James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the Farmingdale State women's and men's cross country teams on Saturday, October 15th at the St. Joseph's Invitational. The women finished in 2nd overall and the men placed 5th at the Sunken Meadow State Park race in Kings Park, N.Y.

Lettieri came in 9th as an individual to lead the women's team, posting a time of 20:42.7 (6:39.9 mile average) and finished in second of all Skyline runners. Just seconds behind Lettieri in the race were freshman Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) at 20:47.1 and junior Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) at 20:47.7. Rounding the top five were junior Megan Eiseman (Seaford, N.Y.) in 30th place and freshman Alicia Shipsey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) in 32nd.

For the men, O'Brien ran a 5:34.3 mile average in the 8K meter race, finishing 10th overall in a time of 27:42.1. Senior Belony Borange (Valley Stream, N.Y.) finished in 37th place at 29:54.8, while sophomore Franklin Turcios (Westbury, N.Y.), freshman David Santa (Westbury, N.Y.) and freshman Nicholas Ferro (Greenlawn, N.Y.) rounded out the Rams top five.

Farmingdale State will next compete at the Skyline Conference Championships on at Broadway Avenue Park in Sayville, N.Y. on Sunday, October 30th.
