O'Brien, Franz Pace Rams at Technology XC Challenge

Newark, N.J. - Farmingdale State's James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) led the way for the men's and women's cross country teams at the 13th Annual Technology XC Challenge hosted by NJIT. The men placed ninth of 21 teams and the women were fourth of 20 at Saturday's meet.

O'Brien, who completed the 8K course in 26:55.85, finished a team-best eighth out of 179 competitors. Sophomore Franklin Turcios (Westbury, N.Y.) (29:08.47) and senior Belony Borange (Valley Stream, N.Y.) (29:16.56) carded 50th and 56th place finishes, respectively.

For the FSC women on the 5k course, Franz paced the team with her 14th place finish of 160 runners in 20:03.91. Freshman Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) took 19th in 20:12.44, while freshman Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) was 26th overall in 20:33.25.

Farmingdale State next will compete at the 17th Annual St. Joseph's Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park on Saturday, October 15th.
