Women Place Second; Men Finish Fifth at LIU Post Invitational

Brookville, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's and men's cross country teams competed at the LIU Post Invitational in Brookville, N.Y. on Saturday. The women earned a runner-up finish out of seven teams, only falling to Division II LIU Post, while the men placed fifth of 10.

FSC junior Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) led the Rams with a seventh place finish (out of 63 competitors) in 20:11.41, while freshman teammate Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) completed the race 22 seconds after Franz in 20:33.10 to take eighth. Freshman Giselle Barrios (Central Islip, N.Y.) recorded an 11th place finish in 20:57.19 for runner-up Farmingdale State.

The men were led by freshman James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) who placed eighth of 86 in 27:14.33. Sophomore Michael Gordon (Valley Stream, N.Y.) (28:40.77) and senior Belony Borange (Valley Stream, N.Y.) (28:59.77) finished 18th and 23rd, respectively.

The cross country teams next will compete at the Highlander Challenge at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J. on Saturday, October 8th.
