Rams Open Season at Fordham Invitational

Bronx, N.Y. -

The Farmingdale State men's and women's cross country team opened the 2011 season at the Fordham Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. With a multitude of Division I, II and III teams at the meet, the Rams ran in the second heat of the race, aside Division II and III teams in the area, including Dominican, Drew, Molloy, Nyack, NYIT, NJIT, Philadelphia, CW Post, Rowan, Stockton, St. Joseph and Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Leading the Farmingdale State men's cross country team with a time of 26.09.48 was senior Sean Tiernan (Staten Island, N.Y.) who finished 19th in his heat, followed by senior Russell Darress (Lynbrook, N.Y.) with a time of 29.02.50, junior Eddie Lopez (Lynbrook, N.Y.) 29.28.86, freshman Matthew Collorafi (Amityville, N.Y.) 29.58.92, and senior Adam Sadler (South Hempstead, N.Y.) 30.21.89. All ran personal bests on that course and the men finished 13th out of 15 scoring teams.

 

The women's team was led by sophomore Mellisa Bonilla (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) with a time of 23.19.53, finishing 72nd overall in her heat.

Farmingdale State will now travel to run in the C.W. Post Invitational on Saturday, September 17th in Brookville, N.Y.
