Women's Cross-Country End of Season Report

The women’s cross-country team finished 4th place in the Skyline and finished in 3rd place in the WIAC. Individually, sophomore Indiana Ripoll led the team this season, finishing 16th in the Skyline. The Rams finished fourth at the Halloween Classic, 6th at the Highlander Invitational and 7th at the Bard Invitational.

The men’s cross-country team was led by freshman Alberto Soberanes, who finished in 7th place in the Skyline and led the team to a third place finish. Highlights this season for the men included a 1st place finish at the Highlander Invitational, 2nd place at the St. John’s Invitational and 3rd place at the Bard Invitational.

The women’s team placed 4th led by sophomore Indiana Ripoll (New York, NY) who placed 20th with a Van Cortlandt Park personal best of 24:19.57. Indiana remains at number 10 on the All-Time Van Cortlandt Park list. Rachel Siegel (Medford, NY) finished in 28th in 26:09.94 with a personal best for Van Cortlandt. Rachel is now 14th on the Van Cortlandt Park list. Mariama Conteh (Bronx, NY) placed 30th, another personal best time, in 26:34.20. Mariama now stands at 17th on the All-Time list. Rounding out the top five for the women were: Carolyn Flynn (White Plains, NY) with a time of 30:38.94 in 37th place and Tia Wofford (Farmingdale, NY) in 38th place in 31:11.24.

Indiana has led the women’s team in every race this season. Last week, she finished 16th in the Skyline Conference Championships with a time of 25:14.9 in the women’s 4th place finish. She has consistently ranked every week on the Skyline Weekly Top-10 Cross Country times among all other Skyline runners.

Skyline Conference/St. Joseph’s Invitational/WIAC Championship

Sunken Meadow State Park

The men’s and women’s Cross-Country team ran this weekend at Sunken Meadow State Park. Both men and women were running for the St. Joseph’s Invitational and Skyline Championship, while the women were also racing for the WIAC Championship. The women’s team finished 4th place in both the Skyline and St. Joseph’s and finished in 3rd place in the WIAC. Sophomore Indiana Ripoll (New York, NY) led the team with a time of 25:14.9, finishing 16th in the Skyline, 8th in the WIAC and 19th for the St. Joe’s. Junior Rachel Siegel (Medford, NY) set a personal best for the Sunken Meadow course by four minutes.

Freshman, Carolyn Flynn (White Plains, NY): 27:48.6 – 26th Skyline, 15th WIAC, 31st St. Joe’s

The next race is the Nick Russo Halloween Classic on Sunday, October 31st at Van Cortlandt Park.

Sophomore Indiana Ripoll (New York, NY) placed 17th (23:03.77) to lead the women’s team to a 6th place finish out of the 10 starting teams. Junior Rachel Siegel (Medford, NY; 26th, 24:13.32), freshman Mariama Conteh (Bronx, NY; 40th, 27:36.44), sophomore Carolyn Flynn (White Plains, NY; 41st, 27:54.35) and junior Tuyet Tran (Queens, NY; 46th, 32:13.08) rounded out the top five. Ripoll, Siegel, Conteh and Flynn all ran personal bests for the 5000m distance.

Women Finish 7th at Bard Invitational

The women placed 7th out of 18 teams led by sophomore Indiana Ripoll (New York, NY) with a 22nd place finish at 29:14. Indiana's time for the 6000m course places her second on the All-Time Bard list. Indiana was followed by Rachel Siegel (Medford, NY, 38th, 31:37), Mariama Conteh (Bronx, NY, 56th, 34:38), Tuyet Tran (Queens, NY, 63rd, 37:25, personal best) and Carolyn Flynn (White Plains, NY, 69th, 38:46).
