Magoulas Places Second in Hammer Throw at NJAC Championship

Mahwah, N.J. - The Farmingdale State women's and men's outdoor track & field teams competed at the NJAC Championships hosted by Ramapo College this weekend and placed eighth and ninth, respectively. The women's team scored 20 points, while the men totaled 13 points. The College of New Jersey won the women's championship and Rowan was victorious on the men's side.

Junior Marina Magoulas (Islip, N.Y.) led the way for Farmingdale State as she notched eight points in the hammer throw and two points in the discus. Magoulas placed second in the hammer with a throw of 47.66m (156' 4') and seventh in the discus with a toss of 32.83m (107' 8").

Freshman Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, N.Y.) now ranks third all-time in the 5000m run after placing fourth in a career-best 19:28.48 to pick up five points.

Freshman Tiffany Paruolo (Kings Park, N.Y.) set career-bests in both the 3000m steeplechase (13:08.04) and the 5000m (20:53.85) to earn four points. Paruolo's mark in the steeplechase ranks second all-time at FSC.

The 4x100m relay team of sophomore Josephine Castano (Bay Shore, N.Y.), freshman Jillian Kosky (Merrick, N.Y.), freshman Julianne Pelegrino (Pawling, N.Y.) and junior Danielle Losquadro (Bethpage, N.Y.) earned the Rams final point after placing eighth in 54.88.

For the men, freshman Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) posted a career-best time of 59.18 in the 400m hurdles to earn sixth place and three points for the Rams. 

In the 3000m steeplechase, sophomore Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.) notched a point with an eighth place finish in 11:01.47.

In the 4x100m relay, the Farmingdale State team of Justin Miele (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), Theo Triadafillopulos (Levittown, N.Y.), Chris Syrett (East Norwich, N.Y.) and Eren Cabaci (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) came in seventh in 46.93 for two points. 

Syrett earned four points with a season-high leap in the high jump (1.70m / 5' 7"), while Triadafillopulos recorded a career-high in the long jump (5.93m / 19' 5.5") to pick up two points.

FSC's final point came in the pole vault as Miele placed eighth with a season-best height of 3.50m (11' 5.75").
