Magoulas Sets School Record at Osprey Invitational

Galloway, N.J. - The Farmingdale State outdoor track teams competed at the Osprey Invitational hosted by Stockton College on Friday and Saturday.

Sophomore Marina Magoulas (Islip, N.Y.) set the Farmingdale State record in the hammer with a toss of 45.64m (149' 9"). Her mark bested the previous school record by over six feet which was set in 2010.

Junior Anthony Miller Jr. (Yonkers, N.Y.) finished fourth out of 44 competitors in the 100m with a time of 11.29. In the 200m, sophomore Denzel Green Wright (Central Islip, N.Y.) took fifth of 60 in 22.40 and teammate Philip Sellitto (Levittown, N.Y.) finished in sixth (22.52). The pair highlighted the 400m as Sellitto (50.35) finished fourth and Green Wright (51.52) recorded an eighth place finish. Freshman Evan McCrann (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) took ninth in the 5000m with a time of 17:22.78.

Junior Muhammad Daud (Queens, N.Y.) competed in both the 100m hurdles (17.76) and 400m hurdles (1:01.16) and finished in ninth and seventh place, respectively.

The 4x100m relay team of Miller Jr., Sellitto, Joseph Motis (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Green Wright won the event after posting a time of 42.77. In the 4x800m relay, FSC's Joshua Green (Shelter Island, N.Y.), Dydro Prosper (Uniondale, N.Y.), Shea Coltrain (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Clint Thompson (East Hampton, N.Y.) finished in third out of six teams.

In the field events, junior Markhus Obas (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) led the way for the Rams as he placed fifth out of 24 in the hammer with a personal best toss of 48.20m (158' 2"). His mark is now #4 on the FSC All-Time List for the hammer. In the same event, junior Thomas Franks (Coram, N.Y.) registered a ninth place finish with a throw of 40.15m (131' 9").

In the triple jump, sophomore Stephen Honoré (Uniondale, N.Y.) (12.69m / 41' 7.75"), freshman Chris Syrett (East Norwich, N.Y.) (12.50m / 41' 0.25") and Jordan Agostino (Commack, N.Y.) (12.10m / 39' 8.5") finished in sixth, seventh and ninth place, respectively. Agostino also competed in the long jump and took ninth with a leap of 5.84m (19' 2").

In the pole vault, senior Richard Zapata (Farmingdale, N.Y.) recorded a fifth place finish (3.50m / 11' 5.75") and junior Joseph McKeon (Hyde Park, N.Y.) compiled 5,368 points in the decathlon to earn a runner-up finish.

Magoulas also competed in the discus and notched a ninth place finish with a distance of 31.37m (102' 11").

In the 800m, junior Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.) (11th place) posted a personal best time of 2:30.60 and moved to #8 on the All-Time List. Freshman Amira Kemp's (Copiague, N.Y.) personal best time of 16.60 earned her a seventh place finish and the #4 spot on the FSC All-Time List. Kemp and sophomore Kristina Gallo (West Islip, N.Y.) each posted high jumps of 1.40m (4' 7") and took seventh place out of 14 competitors.

The 4x400m relay team of Hayley Brigham (Southold, N.Y.), Danielle Losquadro (Bethpage, N.Y.), Nicole Johnson (Bethpage, N.Y.) and Francesca Frasco (Shelter Island, N.Y.) placed eighth in 4:28.48 and moved to #9 on the FSC All-Time List. Rounding out the relays, Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.), Ferguson, Brigham and Frasco earned a fifth place finish in 10:51.72 and moved to #4 All-Time at FSC in the 4x800m.

Obas, Magoulas and the 4x100m relay team of Miller Jr. Sellitto, Motis and Green Wright qualified for the Atlantic Region Championships at SUNY Cortland in May.

The Rams next will compete at the Stony Brook Wolfie Invitational on Saturday, April 20th.
