Outdoor Track & Field Season Recap

Farmingdale, N.Y. - At the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships the men's outdoor track team placed first out of 31 competing teams.

Farmingdale State senior Jovanni Parkinson (Wyandanch, N.Y.) was named the Men's Most Outstanding Performer (MOP) after he won the 200m, 400m and ran the anchor leg of the 1st place 4x400m Relay. Parkinson led the Rams to a team score of 85 points and their first-ever ECAC Championship in program history.

At the ECAC's, junior Jyaire Ewa (Stamford, Conn.) broke his own school record and earned first place with a 57.95m (190' 7") hammer throw, while junior Idowu Bamisile (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned 1st place in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 53.78.

The men had three entries into the NCAA Division III Tournament, Parkinson in the 200m, Ewa in the Hammer Throw, and the 4x400m Relay team of Parkinson, Bamisile, and sophomore's Philip Sellitto (Levittown, N.Y.) and Chad George (Levittown, N.Y.).

At the NCAA's, Parkinson finished in 15th place with a time of 21.93 in the 200m, Ewa posted a 56.26m (184' 7") throw and would finish in 7th place overall in the event, earning him All-American honors, and the 4x400m relay team ran a 3:17.01 to finish in 15th place overall.

At the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships, the men's outdoor track team placed fifth overall. The team ended with five All-Skyline event honorees.

Parkinson earned First Team honors with his first place 400m Run. Bamisile (400m Hurdles), junior Stephen Schmidt (Levittown, N.Y.) (Discus), and the Relay team of freshman Anthony Miller Jr. (Yonkers, N.Y.), Sellitto, George and Parkinson (4x100m) were all named to the Skyline's Second Team for their second place finishes at the NJAC's. Parkinson also earned All-Conference Honorable Mention for his third-place finish in the 200m Dash.

Earlier in the season, at the USMMA 5-Way Meet, the men placed first and the women finished 3rd. The men won a total of 11 events with the women winning four.

The men took home the 100m, 200m, 400m, Shot Put, Discus, Hammer Throw, 4x100m Relay, 110m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 3,000m Steeplechase and the Long Jump.

For the women, senior Nicole Franz (Melville, N.Y.) won the 800m, while also helping the 4x800m Relay team to a 1st place finish. The 4x8 Relay team of Franz, Nicole Ferguson (Shirley, N.Y.), Rae-Anne Guglielmo (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Giselle Barrios (Central Islip, N.Y.) moved to #2 on the All-Time list at Farmingdale State.

The men had eight graduates this year, while the women will be returning their entire roster next season.
