Ewa Breaks School and NJAC Record at NJAC Championship


Galloway, N.J. - The Farmingdale State men's and women's outdoor track team competed in the NJAC Championships this weekend, May 7-8. The men's team finished in 5th place, while the women's team finished in 9th.

Sophomore Jyaire Ewa (North Massapequa, N.Y.) broke the school and NJAC record in the Hammer Throw to take 1st in the event with a throw of 176' 8" (53.85m). Ewa's school record broke the record of 176' 1" posted by Ed Brown in 2012, while the previous NJAC record was 52.70m. His mark also moves him up to #26 in the Nation in this event.

Ewa posted a career-best in the Shot Put to take 4th place with a mark of 47' 7 3/4", moving him into #4 All-Time at FSC. He also posted a 6th place finish in the Discus (126' 11"). With those three Top-10 finishes, he scored 18 points for his team.

In the 100m, junior Jovanni Parkinson (Wyandanch, N.Y.) placed 4th in the prelims (11.04) and took 5th in the Finals (11.55). Parkinson also ran the anchor leg of the 4x100m Relay Team, who took 3rd place in a time of 42.43 (6th best all-time at FSC) and are now ranked 18th on the ECAC qualifying list.

The team will now travel to the Last Chance Meet at Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J.
