Rams Post 10 Top-5's over the Weekend


New Haven, Conn. - The men's and women's outdoor track team competed at the Penn Relays on Friday and the Yale Springtime Invitational on Sunday. The Rams posted 10 Top-5 finishes over the weekend.

At the Penn Relays, the men's 4x400m Relay team of Philip Sellitto (Levittown, N.Y.), Nikola Georgiev (Kings Park, N.Y.), Franklin Turcios (Westbury, N.Y.) and Jovanni Parkinson (Wyandanch, N.Y.) finshed in 3rd place in the CTC division, while also qualifiying for the ECAC's, with their time of 3:21.78.

At the Yale Springtime Invitational, the 4x100m Relay team of James D'onofrio (West Babylon, N.Y.), Bryan Giordano (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Parkinson and Sellitto posted an ECAC qualifying mark of 43.13.

Parkinson ran an 11.41 in the 100m in a 2nd place finish, while Georgiev took 4th in the same event with a career-best 11.55. Goergiev also finished in 5th place in the 200m (22.77).

Sophomore Nicole Franz (Melville, N.Y.) moved to #7 on the FSC All-Time list for the 800m with a time of 2:29.95.

Freshman Tunisia Solomon (Amityville, N.Y.) moved to #5 on the All-Time Triple Jump list with a 5th place finish and her career best distance of 10.80m (35' 5 1/4").

Sophomore Jyaire Ewa (North Massapequa, N.Y.) won the Hammer throw in an ECAC qualifying mark of 50.62m (166' 1"). He also took 5th in both the Shot Put (44' 9 1/2") and the Discus (39.37m).

Sophomore Stephen Schmidt (Levittown, N.Y.) finished 4th in the Discus and also posted a 6th place finish in the Hammer throw (44.19m), improving his #7 All-Time mark.
