Skyline Releases Spring Weekly Report #5

- Rosino named Player of the Week; Attardi and Bentz earn Rookie of the Week honors -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #5 on Monday, April 4th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Women's Lacrosse Update (2-7, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's lacrosse team played three games last week and posted a 1-2 record.

Junior midfielder Brittany Rosino* (North Babylon, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Rosino led the Rams in goals (10), points (12) and draw controls (14) in their three games. She scored two goals and had an assist versus New Paltz and had a goal and an assist at Montclair State. Rosino had eight DC's and scored a game-high seven goals, including the game-winner, with 35 seconds remaining in overtime at Mount Saint Mary.

This week Farmingdale State will play at Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

Baseball Update (6-10, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

FSC was 3-1 last week with victories over Merchant Marine and Yeshiva (DH).

Freshman outfielder Nick Attardi (Smithtown, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week. Attardi batted .438 in Farmingdale State's four games. He was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and 2 RBI in the 9-3 win over Merchant Marine. In game one vs. Yeshiva, Attardi went 2-for-3 with a triple, scored two runs and had an RBI and was 2-for-3 with four runs scored, 1 RBI and stole four bases in game two versus Yeshiva.

Junior pitcher Matt Seelinger (Westbury, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after registering the win in his only start of the week against Merchant Marine. He threw six innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits, while striking out six.

This week the baseball team will host Baruch on Thursday (5:00 p.m.), St. Joseph's-LI (DH) on Saturday (noon) and travel to Purchase (DH) on Sunday (noon).

Men's Tennis Update (4-2, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's tennis team opened Skyline Conference play last week with a 9-0 win at Sarah Lawrence.

Freshman Andy Bentz (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors. He recorded a 7-5, 6-0 win at #1 singles and an 8-6 victory at #1 doubles versus Sarah Lawrence.

FSC will play three matches this week: Wednesday vs. Brooklyn @ 4:30 p.m., Saturday vs. Sage @ 1:00 p.m. and Sunday at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn @ 3:00 p.m.

Men's Lacrosse Update (6-1, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

In their only game last week, the men's lacrosse team traveled to Mount Saint Mary and earned a 10-9 victory.

Sophomore attack Michael Cegielski (Somers, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll. Cegielski had a team-high five points on three goals and two assists against Mount Saint Mary. With 6:03 remaining and the game tied 9-9, Cegielski scored the game-winning goal to lead the Rams to a 10-9 win.

This week the Rams will play three games: Wednesday at Western Connecticut @ 7:00 p.m., Saturday at Kean @ 1:00 p.m. and Sunday home vs. Dominican @ 2:00 p.m.

Softball Update (6-10, 4-2 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State split with Sage in a Skyline doubleheader last week.

This week softball team will play at Old Westbury (DH) on Thursday (3:00 p.m.), at Yeshiva (DH) on Friday (12:45 p.m.), home vs. Staten Island (DH) on Saturday (noon) and home vs. Sarah Lawrence (DH) on Sunday (noon).

Outdoor Track Update

The outdoor track teams traveled to Ramapo College for the Roadrunner Invitational last week. The men finished in seventh place and the women recorded a 20th place finish at the meet.

Junior Jovanni Parkinson (Wyandanch, N.Y.) won the 200m in 22.21, while sophomore Jyaire Ewa (North Massapequa, N.Y.) placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 170'. The women were led by freshman Tunisia Solomon's (Amityville, N.Y.) third place finish in the triple jump.

This week Farmingdale State will compete at the TCNJ Invitational on Saturday.

Golf Update

The golf team will open their spring season this week at the NYU Spring Invitational at the Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield, N.J. on Saturday and Sunday.
