NJAC Releases Week 8 Athlete of the Week Selections

- Johnson named Rookie of the Week -


Pitman, N.J. - The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its Week 8 NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week selections on Monday, May 7th.

Freshman Ieshawn Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) earns NJAC Men's Outdoor Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time this season and the second consecutive week after traveling to Pomona to compete at the NJAC Championships hosted by Richard Stockton College. He became the first Farmingdale State student-athlete to claim an NJAC Outdoor Championship when he placed first in a field of 16 competitors in the discus with an ECAC qualifying throw of 48.26 meters. He also placed second in a field of 16 competitors in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying and personal-best throw of 14.35 meters. He also placed fourth in a field of 13 competitors in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 40.50 meters. Johnson continues to hold the 14th best NCAA Division III mark recorded in the discus this season (52.14 meters). The performances by Johnson helped Farmingdale State place fourth overall in its first-ever NJAC Outdoor Championship.
