Rams Post Good Showing at TCNJ Invite

Ewing, N.J. - The Farmingdale State outdoor track team competed in the New Jersey Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey on Saturday, April 14. Rams freshman Ieshawn Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) improved his ECAC qualifying distance in the Discus at 52.14 meters, the 7th best mark in Division III.

Farmingdale State took the Top 3 spots in both the Discus and Hammer. In the Discus, Johnson won the event, while junior Mike Jang (Lynbrook, N.Y.) took 2nd with a toss of 40.48m and junior Edward Brown IV (Bay Shore, N.Y.) took 3rd place at 40.14m. Brown then took 1st in the Hammer at 52.54m, followed by Jang in 2nd and Johnson in 3rd.

Junior Steven Renteria (West Babylon, N.Y.) placed 3rd in the High Jump at an even 6'0". Senior Sean Tiernan (Staten Island, N.Y.) placed 5th in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:07.82. Freshman William Frederic (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took 5th in the 400m High Hurdles at 59.85.

For the women's team, junior Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y.) posted three ECAC qualifying times. She tied her school record in the 100m Hurdles taking 2nd place with a time of 15.13 and took 7th in the 200. She also placed 3rd in the 4x100 Relay team, alongside junior Faustine Chukwuezi (Central Islip, N.Y.), junior Kathleen Clermont (Uniondale, N.Y) and sophomore Katherine Hoskins (Valley Stream, N.Y.).

Junior Joanna Pavone (West Islip, N.Y.) improved her school record in the Pole Vault, increasing her cleared height to 9' 8", taking 2nd place in her event.

The Rams will compete in the Collegiate Track Conference Championships this weekend, April 21-22, hosted by DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennslyvania.
