Brown and Johnson Win Events at Roadrunner Invite

- Edward Brown IV and Ieshawn Johnson win Hammer and Discus; Joanna Pavone Breaks School Record in the Pole Vault -


Mahwah, N.J. - The Farmingdale State outdoor track team competed at the Ramapo College Roadrunner Invitational on Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7. The Rams had two first place finishes for the 6th place men's team and a school record posted for the 12th place women's team.

On the men's side, junior Edward Brown IV (Bay Shore, N.Y.) won the Hammer Throw at 52.57 meters, while freshman Ieshawn Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) won the Discus, improving his ECAC qualifying distance, with a throw of 51.18 meters.

Junior Mike Jang (Lynbrook, N.Y.) took 2nd place in the Hammer at 51.12 meters. Senior Sean Tiernan (Staten Island, N.Y.) finished 4th in the 3000m Steeplechase.

For the women, junior Joanna Pavone (West Islip, N.Y.) broke the school record in the Pole Vault with a vault of 2.80m - 9' 2 1/4". The former school record, held by Kara Grech since 2006, was 8' 8".

Junior Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y.) took 4th place with an ECAC qualifying 15.39 in the 100 Hurdles.

The Rams will compete next at the New Jersey Invitational on Saturday, April 14 at the College of New Jersey in Ewing, N.J.
