Flushing, N.Y. - Juniors Edward Brown IV (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Kathleen Clermont (Uniondale, N.Y.) highlighted the men's and women's outdoor track and field teams this weekend (March 24-25) in the Queens College Invitational in Flushing, N.Y. The men's team had three ECAC qualifying marks, while Clermont posted two ECAC qualifying times for the women. The ECAC's will take place on May 17-18 at RPI in Troy, N.Y.

Women's Highlights

Clermont won both the 100 Meters (12.78) and 200 Meters (26.46), also qualifying for the ECAC Championship's in both events.

Junior Victoria Mandat (West Babylon, N.Y.) took 2nd in the 200 Meters in 27.51, while also winning the 100 Hurdles in 15.55.

Sophomore Katherine Hoskins (Valley Stream, N.Y.) placed 3rd in the 100 Meters at 13.18 and 3rd place in the 200 Meters at 28.10.

Freshman Megan Cabasino (Long Beach, N.Y.) finished 6th in the 400 Meters in a time of 1:12.08.

Freshman Jennifer Sportiello (Manorville, N.Y.) took 8th in the 800 Meters- 3:50.41.

Men's Highlights

Brown took 1st place in the Hammer Throw, improving his own school record to 53.68m. This currently marks as the 8th best Throw in Division III.

Junior Mike Jang (Lynbrook, N.Y.) took 2nd place in the Hammer Throw (51.70m), moving to #2 on the All-Time list at FSC and qualifying for ECAC's.

Freshman Ieshawn Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) finished 4th in the Hammer at 39.47m, jumping into #7 on the All-Time list. Freshman Andrew Bylicki (Deer Park, N.Y.) rounded out the Top 5 in teh Hammer with a throw of 35.30 meters.

Johnson won the Discus with an ECAC qualifying toss of 44.87m, moving him into #6 All-Time in just his first collegiate outdoor event. Jang took 5th in the Discus with a mark of 31.53m. In the Shot Put, Jang and Johnson took 3rd and 5th place, respectively.

Freshman Frederick Harris (North Baldwin, N.Y.) finished top five in two events, placing 2nd in the Long Jump (5.56m) and 4th in the Triple Jump (11.45m). Sophomore Daquan Grant (Copiague, N.Y.) finished in a three way tie for 4th place finish in High Jump at 1.72m.

Freshman William Frederic (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took 2nd in the 800 Meters, posting a time of 2:06.23. Senior Sean Tiernan (Staten Island, N.Y.) took a 3rd place finish in the 1,500 Meters in 4:22.02.

 

The Rams will compete next at the Ramapo Roadrunner Invitational on Friday, April 6 - Saturday, April 7 at Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J.
