Track and Field Competes at NJAC Championships

STATEN ISLAND | Farmingdale State College took part in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships Monday night at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, with the Rams' women's side placing sixth (20 pts.), and the men's squad checking in with 10.5 points for an eighth-place showing.

On the women's side, senior Emily Russell (Southold, N.Y.) tied for second in high jump (1.57m; 5-1.75), while placing seventh in shot put (10.61m; 34-9.75). Her high jump mark places her fifth in Farmingdale State's all-time record book.

Russell also ran the third leg on the 4x200m relay team, along with sophomore Meghan Cichon (Mahopac, N.Y.), and juniors Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Jillian Kosky (Merrick, N.Y.), placed fifth in a time of 1:50.76 -- moving to No. 5 on the Rams' all-time leaderboard in the process.

The 4x400m relay team of senior Alycia Haynes (Adams Ctr., N.Y.), senior Michaela Rapisarda (Deer Park, N.Y.), freshman Nicole Pickett (Uniondale, N.Y.) and freshman Anabel Rommer (Wells Bridge, N.Y.) also placed fifth, wrapping up their circuit in 4:34.91.

Haynes placed seventh in the 800m run (2:27.04) in a performance that now ranks No. 7 on FSC's all-time performance list, while senior Amira Kemp (Copiague, N.Y.) placed eighth with a PR in the 60-meter hurdles (10.50).

In men's competition, sophomore Robert Kalinowski (Farmingdale, N.Y.) placed fourth in the pole vault with a leap of 4.25m (13-11.25), while sophomore Jovany Philippe (Huntington, N.Y.) tied for eighth with a leap of 1.76m (5-9.25) in the high jump.

In the distance medley relay, senior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, N.Y.), freshman Renzo Chevez (Westbury, N.Y.), freshman Samuel Aladegboungbe (Bay Shore, N.Y.), and sophomore Daniel Catano (Deer Park, N.Y.) completed their race in 11:39.32, good for seventh place.

Also finishing seventh was the 4x400-meter relay quartet of senior Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.), Aladegboungbe, freshman Tristan Socias (Uniondale, N.Y.) and senior Morris Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.), in a time of 3:31.46.

Rounding out the men's scoring performances was the 4x200m relay team of Philippe, junior Timothy Folarin (Elmont, N.Y.), sophomore Nathaniel Blades (Freeport, N.Y.) and sophomore Jaden Euell (Wheatley Hts., N.Y.), who placed eighth with their 1:37.78 time.

Just missing out on finishing in the points was sophomore Isaiah Mehnert (W. Babylon, N.Y.), who placed ninth with a personal-record leap of 12.17m (39-11.25) in the triple jump.

Prior to competition in the March 3-4 All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track and Field Championships, head coach Daniela Georgieva's Rams teams will return to action Friday (Feb. 24) at Ocean Breeze, when they take part in the Fastrack Last Chance Meet.
