Indoor Track and Field Competes at NYC Gotham Cup

STATEN ISLAND | The Farmingdale State College indoor track and field teams competed Friday night at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, as the Rams took part in the NYC Gotham Cup meet.

On the men's side, freshman thrower Marcin Wasiuta (Farmingdale, N.Y.) qualified for the finals in the shot put, placing eighth with a personal-record toss of 13.15m (43-1.75). Senior Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, N.Y.) registered a PR with his 8.94 time in the 60-meter hurdles, which improved his No. 6 spot on the Rams' leaderboard, while senior sprinter Morris Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.) posted times of 7.18 and 23.35 in the 60- and 200-meter dashes, respectively.

In women's action, junior Alexxis McNeil (Valley Stream, N.Y.) improved her No. 4 mark on the Rams' all-time leaderboard in the 60-meter dash, crossing the finish line in a time of 8.11 seconds. Additionally her 26.48 time in the 200-meter dash moved her into fifth place on the FSC ledger. 

Weight-throw competitors Madelyn Karman (So.; Sayville, N.Y.) and Melissa Reyes (Sr.; Selden, N.Y.) both set personal records with their marks of 11.95m (39-2.5) and 9.84m (32-3.5), respectively. Karman's effort ranks her fifth on the Farmingdale State all-time leaderboard.

Head coach Daniela Georgieva's Rams teams are back in action at Ocean Breeze on Sunday (Jan. 29), when they take part in the Empire State Classic.
