FSC, Sarah Lawrence Play to 1-1 Draw

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The FSC women's soccer team hosted Sarah Lawrence in a Skyline Conference match this afternoon and played to a 1-1 tie. 

The Rams (8-8-2, 8-0-1 Skyline) got on the board early as they drew a pair of corner kicks in the opening minute. On the second attempt, FSC senior forward Celina Schenk (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) sent the corner in and it was knocked away by an SLC (10-3-2, 7-0-1 Skyline) defender. Senior forward Emily Zeblisky (Northport, N.Y.) located the ball in the air and headed it into the top left of the net to put FSC in front, 1-0.

In the 14th minute, the Gryphons found the equalizer as Hannah Chafin assisted on a goal by Cora Colvin to make it a 1-1 game.

In the final 1:02 of the first half, Sarah Lawrence recorded a pair of corner kicks and took one shot on net, which was stopped by Rams' senior goalkeeper Lindsey Jolly (Massapequa, N.Y.).

The best chance of the second half came in the 66th minute. Farmingdale State drew a corner kick, which led to a shot on goal by sophomore midfielder Maddy Berry (Glen Head, N.Y.).

With 12:51 to play, FSC junior forward Michaela Rapisarda (Deer Park, N.Y.) took a shot that was blocked and went just wide of the left post.

Neither team took a shot on goal in the final 10 minutes as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Jolly finished with one save on the day, while Sarah Lawrence junior goalie Bridgette Lee stopped three shots.

Farmingdale State will next play host to Manhattanville for a conference match on Saturday, October 22nd at noon.
