Martinez, Zeblisky Lead Rams Past Mount Saint Mary

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Farmingdale State senior forwards Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) and Emily Zeblisky (Northport, N.Y.) each tallied a goal and an assist to lead the women's soccer team past Mount Saint Mary, 3-2, on Saturday. The Rams improved to a perfect 5-0 in conference play and 5-7-1 overall.

FSC scored just over 14 minutes into the contest as junior forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Alyse Rivera (Manhattan, N.Y.) assisted on a goal by Martinez.

Only 44 seconds later, Mount Saint Mary (3-9-2, 3-3-1 Skyline) freshman Kaitlin Hansen set up senior Julia Accetura for the game-tying goal.

The two teams traded shots over the first 25 minutes of the second half before Martinez assisted Zeblisky for a goal to put the Rams ahead, 2-1, with 15:43 remaining.

Just under three minutes later, Zeblisky set up freshman midfielder True Eggers (Manhattan, N.Y.) for a score as Farmingdale State went up, 3-1.

Mount Saint Mary upped the pressure and scored on a free-kick with 2:25 on the clock to make it a one-goal game at 3-2.

The Knights forced a pair of corner kicks in the final minute but were unable to get a shot off as FSC went on for the 3-2 victory.

Martinez and Zeblisky notched three points apiece, while Eggers registered the first game-winning goal of her career. Rivera had a game-high six shots and recorded one assist.

Lindsey Jolly (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Chloe Kensell (Monroe, N.Y.) split time in net for Farmingdale State and had one save each.

The women's soccer team will next host non-conference opponent Western Connecticut on Monday, October 10th at 6:00 p.m.
