FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The FSC women's soccer team dropped a non-conference match to Scranton, 1-0, in Farmingdale, N.Y. on Wednesday evening.

Scranton (8-2-1) had the first scoring chance just 7:37 into the contest when Claire Hulholland drove up the sideline and sent a ball across for Mary Haggerty, who shot the ball just over the top of the net.

Royals' Niamh Healy had the next two shots, including one that was saved by FSC (4-7-1) senior goalkeeper Lindsey Jolly (Massapequa, N.Y.), as the game remained, 0-0.

In the 20th minute, Farmingdale State junior forward Jazzmin Terrell (West Babylon, N.Y.) recorded a shot from 30 yards out that was knocked down by Scranton sophomore keeper Nicole Olson.

Each team had one more shot on goal in the final 25 minutes of the first half as the game entered halftime scoreless.

Scranton came out quick in the second half, attempting three shots in the first five minutes.

At 51:10, Niamh Healy netted her fifth of the season and the lone goal of the game, off the feed from Teresa Hegarty, to put the Royals on top, 1-0.

Scranton maintained the pressure over the next 20 minutes, before FSC senior forward Julissa Martinez (Brentwood, N.Y.) took a shot that was stopped.

Jolly made a save with less than 10 minutes to play to keep the Rams within striking distance.

With 4:33 remaining, Olson made a save on Martinez's final shot as the Royals went on for the 1-0 victory.

Jolly made five saves in defeat for the Rams.

Farmingdale State will next host Mount Saint Mary College for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, October 8th at 2:30 p.m.
